Antenatal classes

I'm 26 weeks and about 3 weeks ago I was given the leaflet from my midwife about antenatal classes. I called straight away but all of the classes I could attend were fully booked until way after my due date!

Did anyone not attend antenatal classes with their first baby? Would I be stupid not to go to one (even if I have to pay?)
Thanks x

I didn't! Baby is now 3 months and I don't feel like I would have done anything different.

I went to them with dd1 and they were a total waste of time. Nothing discussed not freely available online- having read up on pain relief etc beforehand i was bored stupid x

They weren't amazingly helpful. You can get most information from your midwife. The internet is an amazing resource, I definitely found more useful information on MN and generally googling my questions than at antenatal classes.

The only slightly helpful bit I found was the 'what to do practically when you go into labour' and that was just who and when to call - and the bit of info about birthing choices, I.e. hospital, MLU etc... But, like I say, your midwife should be able to chat to you about these.

I ended up being induced at 2 weeks overdue and my antenatal classes didn't touch on any of that though! Grin
