What the hell happened next?! And by the end?!

I'm currently 6+5 and in agony. Seeing a recommended osteo, who seems to, at best, be making no difference (though I've only been twice so far I've been told instant, dramatic effects we're felt straight away)

I'm obviously hoping to hear wonderful stories of recovery, but actually I need to know the truth - I'm f*cked aren't I?! :(

I had terrible pelvic hip pain in the first few months but it did improve a lot after six months. I guess I gave in to resting, not walking far - or overdoing it (housework no more). However I'm fraught with terrible back pain instead and at 36 weeks can only walk at speed of a snail and can't do stairs. First pregnancy I was fine. This ones been awful. I hope your pain improves, it's miserable from that early to have months ahead.

I'm 13 weeks and waiting to see physio I too have been bad since the beginning this time. It's worrying but I'm hoping physio early helps.

Cisforcat · 07/03/2015 07:20

I had it bad with my DD first pregnancy so in this pregnancy sought physio referral early on ( about 8 weeks).
I'm 36 weeks now and have managed it MUCH better this time- even with a 14 month old.
I think it's a combination of getting early help, knowing what I can and can't do and taking it easy from he start but I am managing to get by without being totally immobile.

Don't give up hope- I can't believe how much better I am this time round so if your seeking early help i might well be manageable. Good luck!

Maybe see a different osteo, or a recommended physio? In my first pregnancy it took me about three different osteos until I found one that helped (a bit). The NHS physio was absolutely fucking useless. I knew more about PGP/SPD than she did and that whole experience made me really cross. What really helped for me was seeing an acupuncturist - really helped with the pain.

This pregnancy I'm seeing a very excellent (private) physio who I'd started seeing before getting pregnant again. If you're in London, I can suggest some people worth seeing...

Thanks ladies, so maybe a bit of hope yet...

Whatabout are you worse now at 13 weeks than in the very start or did it start bad and just stay the same?

Citydweller I am in London! Shall pm you if that's ok?!

I've just stood at a conference for four days and I'm in a bad way. I don't think it has got worse, just started bad early and continuing so far. Which is something of a relief as I thought perhaps I might be very immobile quickly.

I had bad SPD till 14 weeks and then it more or less vanished, I'm 38+3 now and I only get niggles when I've done too much!

Grainwhole · 14/03/2015 01:04

Oh my goodness M27! That's AMAZING! Please tell me more!

  • How bad was it up to 14 weeks?
  • Did you see anybody/ do anything to make it go away?!

Last time I was pregnant I could barely move upstairs after 8 weeks but didnt get any physio until after I had miscarriaged. This time I'm about 5 weeks and already get pain again!

Tranquilitybaby · 14/03/2015 14:00

Does anyone use get the butbing is in with SPD? I'm currently almost 26 weeks and have had a sciatica for a few weeks. No it's extended to pelvic pain and a burning pain across my old section scar.

My urgent physio refers isn't until the end of April so I've ordered a support belt today.

reallywittyname · 14/03/2015 16:07

This is my second pregnancy and spd/pgp kicked in at 17 weeks then bizarrely went away for 6 weeks, during which time I had mild pneumonia. Now I'm feeling better but the spd/pgp is back with a vengeance - seems I can't win! But I'm going to see if I can get some physio next week, it's agony, I can't face another 4 months of this.

Grainwhole · 17/03/2015 01:49

Mine's got way worse in the last week or so - maybe hormonal but also think osteo was making it worse, so now booked in to see new osteo this week; how about that for keeping doing the same thing and expecting a different result? Confused Lost for other options though - midwife already put in 'urgent' physio referral...
