I received a phone call this afternoon from hospital , midwife says after my baby is low risk for downs syndrome ( thank God) but she rang to let me know that the results show that I have low hormones ( don't know what the hormone is called ) and if it continues like that it means my baby's growth/development will be affected/slow therefore she is bookings to have extra growth scans to monitor the baby otherwise if things don't improve I will have a small baby . Has someone been gone through this can you please calm me down . Thanks BTW am 13 weeks pregnant and my first scan showed baby was the right size

Thanks 83, I know it's not a good idea but might have to google it. She said other hospitals don't worry about it but my hospital takes it seriously as they have to monitor the baby.

I had low Papp a as well. I'm in Scotland and was offered a growth scan at 34 weeks which I've just has and was fine. The screening midwife said to me when they gave me the results that in some people it can cause issues with growth in the third trimester and the consultant said that they wanted to re scan as s
In some people it can have implications for the placenta and the mothers blood pressure, again in the third trimester. It doesn't affect everyone.

Re Google. Don't you will be scared. I was but decided to trust what my hcps were telling me as applicable in my situation. Try not to worry.

Hi 83 I pretty much had the same results as you (although the hormone levels were low enough to put me high risk for DS). My doctor isn't too concerned, but I pushed and they agreed to give me extra scans at 28' 32 and 36 weeks. I'm now 29 weeks and baby seems to be growing fine, in fact at the scan at 28 weeks she was described as 'slightly chubby'. I would try not to worry too much, just get an extra scan to put your mind at ease. Best of luck!

Hi OP I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant and have low PAPP A. Don't google!! I got myself hysterical over it! I'm in England and they had me in for growth scans every fortnight after my 20 week scan, but I also have notches in my uterine artery so it's hard to know whether it's because of the PAPPA or the notches that they are keeping such a close eye on me. My baby is measuring just under the 50th centile but again this could be because of the notches. They might suggest putting you on low dose aspirin, I was supposed to be on it until 36 weeks only my waters went last week so they've stopped that now!

Most of the consultants I have seen at each scan have been unconcerned about the low PAPP A.
