What's the stabbing cervix all about??

I am 36 wks now and two weeks ago baby was transverse. At my mw app on Monday she said he is now head down ( I had no idea he'd moved!)

The last couple of days mostly when I've got up or been walking I've had the most horrid stabbing pains in my cervix. ( it that's what it feels like).
Almost like someone's shoving a knitting needle up there or he's trying to claw his way out with sharp nails!!!

Any ideas? I'm hoping this means he is still head down ( I can't tell- rubbish at telling position. I think he is as still getting most movement up the top in the way of wriggles and kicks)

Is this him moving head/ arms or something else? It's bloody uncomfortable and often makes me have to stand still for a second or two ( and swear under my breath!)

Any knowledge appreciated!

I'm 36 weeks and have been getting this for awhile. Think it's just the baby's head wiggling around down there. I had to stop in the street and breathe deeply till he stopped without drawing to much attention to myself!

I'm only 30 weeks and had this sort of feeling a few times today, like yourself when walking and wasn't the most comfortable of feelings!! Am hoping it won't continue too much!!

I had this knitting needle at 16-17 weeks and was panicking.

Can not help more, but if you dont me asking, what did they do at 34w
appt while the baby was transverse? Did you get referred to scan, did they talk about section at all?

I'm 35 weeks and get this too. Someone on another thread referred to it as 'fanny daggers', which I thought was a good description. I think its just baby pressing down into your pelvis, so likely head down.

I had this with my dd so try not to worry. She was a big baby and that's what I put it down to having not suffered this pain with my other pregnancies.

Thanks everyone. Things we endure in pregnancy ey !

Zahrah- mw just said if hadn't turned by 36 weeks she'd refer me for scan and consultant app to discuss options which would basically be a) try to turn baby in ECV procedure. If I didn't opt for that or it didn't work then options are deliver breech or c sec.

I had an awful labour with my dd so is already decided I'd opt for c sec but luckily he has turned ( and hoping will stay that way!).

I think most turn tbh, even if it's in their own time!
