16w 4days - twisted awkwardly

Hi

I appreciate I'm a panicky little bird due to a previous miscarriage so everything alarms me! yesterday I had a scan and baby looks perfect. I'm thrilled!

This morning I twisted awkwardly getting out of the car and had sharp pain in my left side/abdomen. Should I be worried? I want to think that there's plenty of room in there for baby to be okay but I can't help panicking. I only had pain for that moment when twisting. Nothing afterwards.

At six weeks baby will be tucked way behind you pelvic bone and will be very well protected. What you describe would not ring alarm bells for me. For an incident to cause harm to your baby, it must cause harm to you. A moment of pain and nothing more does not indicate that that's the case.

I too am pregnant following a miscarriage. I know its tough. But you need to relax. If it helps, my DS was conceived after a miscarriage too. He's 15 months now. I can't tell you of all the times I twisted awkwardly causing a few seconds of pain or hit my side or belly on the door handle during that pregnancy. I did the same just yesterday in this pregnancy at 7+4.

Congratulations and enjoy your pregnancy.

Sorry I read that as 6 weeks. Even at 16 weeks what you describe doesn't seem concerning.

When's your next scan? Do you intend to find out the sex? I'm just under 8 weeks and can't wait for the first trimester to be over with so I can start getting excited!

I get twinges and pulling sensations a lot when I move awkwardly (i'm 26w). I put it down to ligaments getting over-stretched for a second and don't give it a second thought.

I've been very lucky not to have a miscarriage in my past, so I can only guess at how unsettling these random pains are.

I would think it's just a muscle twinge. I've had similar in this and my last pregnancy after reaching too far/quickly over my expanding uterus. I know it's easier said than done, but I wouldn't worry.
