I'm 16 weeks pregnant today and for the last couple of weks I've felt that my stomach felt/looked bigger and that made me feel pregnant but this week I don't feel pregnant at all and feel that my stomach is just the same as always - also have never had any symptoms even from day 1 but had scan at 13 weeks which should all was well and my next apt isnt till 20 weeks and its not a scan just a check for heartbeart - really need to hear that but it's ages away. Can anyway get rid of my fears that maybe the baby isnt alive anymore - I'm really worried and upset. Thanks

Have you got a pre natal assessment unit at your hospital? If there is, you can usually self-refer and get an appointment on the same day. Either way, if you're worried, ring your midwife and get your mind put at ease. Hugs....

This is a completely natural feeling. I am sitting here at 34 weeks preggers, worrying because the baby has been quiet for a couple of days. If you are really worried make an appointment with your midwife, i'm sure she will let you listen to the baby's heartbeat.

Agree with squishy, call your midwife and let them know how you feel and they may suggest popping down just to reasure you. My widwife with dd2 was fantastic I was forever worrying and in the centre loads due to lack of symptoms, worrying about movements ect...

try and relax

I know exactly how you feel. I'm 16 weeks pg on Sat and now the nausea has gone, I don't feel it at all. A tiny bit thicker round the waist I guess but that's it.

Try not to worry and call your midwife or your GP for a chat. I don't think you can expect to feel movement until 18-20 weeks anyway. But do allay your fears by going to see the midwife. If you're upset then that's no good at all!

Don't know how easy it is to contact your midwife but I had similar concerns after heavy bleed at 13 weeks, which continued until about 20 weeks...

Call your midwife and ask her to pop over, or if you could get a 5 minute slot with her at her clinic and she can try to listen with the doppler for you.

Word of warning though - I tried this at 15 weeks with GP and she couldn't pick up heartbeat because of position of placenta so of course then I was worrying that there was not heartbeat!! However, they should hopefully pick up the placenta pulsing or sounds of movement by 16 or 17 weeks so that would put your mind at rest within minutes.

Good luck and try not to worry. You are at a time when the placenta is taking over the hard work so your symptoms will lessen.

hiya, i think thats perfectly normal from abou 16 to about 20ish weeks is the honeymoon period, the nausia is gone and your energy levels are high, before the tiredness and aches and pains of late pregnancy kick in, if i was you i would see your gp for a wee bit of reassurance then just enjoy this time!! take care xx

LJK - one thought which really kept me spirits up was "if there was something wrong. my body will let me know" i.e. pain, bleeding etc.

Of course this is of no use if you have a bleed, cos even then everything can be fine (god that's garbled) but I hope you get what I am inelegantly trying to say.

I felt totally not pregnant from day one, until about 18 weeks. A very unsettling feeling

I know just how you feel LJK. Once all of the first trimester symptoms go away and you start to feel better it can actually be more worrisome than having MS. FWIW, I've read that after the first scan is normal the risk of m/c goes wayyyy down. Can't remember the stats offhand, though.

However, I think it is perfectly reasonable to get a check-up for reassurance in the next week or so. I am in the US and we go every 4 weeks starting at 8 weeks - then every 2 weeks and then every one in the 3rd trimester. So over here you would be going in in a week for a heartbeat, urine, measure and weight check. Just call up and stand your ground. It'll make you feel better.
