Should I book in to see Dr?

Pregnant with 2nd child, only 7 weeks but am convinced it's twins. Feel sick all day long, boobs sore and got a bump (bloating?) already. Didn't have any symptoms like this with my first child. Not booked in to see midwife until end of March and not got a scan date yet. I am 90% sure there's two in there but not sure if I should speak to GP about it? What would you do? Wait it out or go to Drs and have them think I'm crazy?? My other half is a twin but not sure if that backs up my theory any more!??

I am a twin and my mum didn't even know she was pregnant for several months ... so its not given that intensity = 2! Smile I have heard some women find one sex easier than the other to carry..?

You can ask but of its nhs they might not have resources to check. You can get private scans if you're desperate to know though! Grin

Surely you should be seeing the MW before the end of March?

Booking-in appointment with MW is usually around 8 weeks so they can get a scan in between 11-14 weeks. Are scan dates arranged separately in your area?

Mrswire123 · 02/03/2015 17:05

Yes maybe you're right. It's only my second so perhaps it's a girl this time. Paranoid but not enough to warrant paying for a private scan - guess I'll just have to be patient!! Smile

I'm hoping so gallicgirl. I've got a big age gap so can't remember what happened last time but I thought 11 weeks was late for a booking in appointment. I might phone tomorrow and double check if scans are arranged separately as it does seem late.

Everyone I know who has been convinced they're carrying twins has had a singleton - including someone where there were 7 sets of twins in two generations!

I'm afraid your GP won't be able to tell you whether it's twins or not...My hubbie's a GP and believe me I wish he would have had x-ray vision at times throughout my pregnancy!

I was really poorly carrying my second but not as much as I have been with this one, I think it's just been harder with each pregnancy, dd1 I had no sickness, no sore boobs or tiredness, dd2 4 years later I had awful morning sickness, backache, headaches, tiredness. This pregnancy, 6 years later, if you can name it I've had it ha ha, boobs have been agony all the way through, sickness till 15 weeks, now 19 weeks and have pains in legs, sore boobs, tiredness, headaches. This one is a boy.
Push for midwife app, I would but honestly every pregnancy is different so could just be your having a rough time Sad

Your doctor probably can't help. I went to doctor at 10 weeks as I had awful pregnancy symptoms including hyperemesis and couldn't work.
He did say that there was a chance it was twins (it wasn't) but that as a twin pregnancy wasn't considered a risky pregnancy then the 12 week scan would just go ahead as normal.
It could just be a different sex than last time. Good luck Grin

I felt exactly the same as you. I was completely convinced I was having twins as this pregnancy has been so different to ds (more sickness, bigger bump, generally more crap). Just one in there......but a little girl this timeGrin. I'm not sure what a doctor could do about it specifically!

Mrswire123 · 02/03/2015 21:13

Thanks for all of your replies. Helpful to know that a lot of you felt different 2nd time round. Think I'm just suffering from pregnancy paranoia!!
