Hi all
One of my closest friends is scheduled in for a c section next week as her dd is currently breech.
I'm seeing her this Friday and wanted to put a little basket of goodies together for her and baby.
I'm due in a few weeks and we've been given a lovely basket full of new baby essentials so ill be copying those contents for baby, but any ideas what I can pop in for my friend?

She's not really into reading though I may chuck in a few celeb mags, although I doubt she will have much time for reading with a new born anyway!

Any suggestions much appreciated

Practically i would suggest arnica tablets they help heal bruising, pro plus and maybe some nice face wipes/cream. I am coming out in spots due to being run down :(

Congrats to you and your friend x

Thermos mug to keep tea warm
Lovely biscuits
Nice nuts/energy giving snacks
A home cooked meal for her freezer
a giant bottle of gin

Thanks both love the ideas especially the biscuits and arnica tablets. Funnily enough Impatient she still has the miniature bottle of gin that was a favour from my wedding, she won't drink it because of sentimental reasons so maybe a giant bottle might tempt her!

Some really nice hand cream. In fact, that's a great present for anyone with a new baby. You wash you hands so much and they get as dry as fuck. A multipack of big pants that won't rub her scar. A few home cooked meals.

If you do include the arnica tablets she needs to start taking them before the section date. If she speaks to her midwife they can advise when to start taking them as I can't remember now. I think they really helped my recovery.

Ha, on the gin theme, I missed it so much whilst I was pregnant that I took a little can of Gordons & tonic into hospital with me for a post birth treat!

Peppermint tea can help with constipation apparently.
Some flapjack - oats help boost milk production which can be slow to come in following a section.
A really good multi vitamin including biotin to help recovery.
and in case all that's far too bloody serious pink champers truffles!

Definitely peppermints or nice peppermint chocolates. You get terrible trapped wind after elcs & the peppermint relieves it.
Nice hand cream was one of the best presents I had.
If you can find some pretty big pants that would be nice, it's boring wearing black ones all the time once you don't need to hide any leaks etc.
Home cooked meals or a voucher for cook or eat fresh or similar.
Nice snacks that you can keep handy for whilst you're feeding.
It's lovely that you're doing this for your friend, she's very lucky. Good luck to both of you.

One of my most appreciated gifts was a batch of sauces my friend brought round for me to freeze and add to pasta! for some reason all visitors show up right when your about to think about lunch and having something you can throw together in 10 mins is perfect!!!!

Seasidedolly · 02/03/2015 17:33

Thanks all love the ideas. Have added handcream to the list, she's a bit OCD about germs and makes me anti bac everytime I handle money (OK, we may have shared a few trips to McDonalds drive through for lunch, we blamed it on guilt free cravings!)

Tiny that gin story sounds amazing!! adding to my hospital bag checklist

could you get her something for her hair - a nice hairband to keep it out of the way or dry shampoo or something? she might not feel like jumping in the shower straight after an op?
