Electric steriliser advice please

I have been advised to use Dr Browns bottles by my sister as they worked wonders for her 3 DCs against colic.
However the Dr Browns steriliser has got awful reviews on Amazon.
Can the collective wisdom of MN recommend a good, reliable electric steriliser that will fit the bottles?
I am currently 35 weeks with my first child, so I'm buggered if I've got a clue!
Thanks in advance.

Hi Op,
Those bottles worked a treat for us. Dd is 5 months now and I'm still using them but I sterilise the old fashioned way because I had that many different bottles. It's not really been a problem.

Old fashioned method? Remember, I'm clueless!!!

Sterilising tablets and water, can use any tub at all

mrsnec · 01/03/2015 19:35

Yes that's exactly what I'm doing. Old ice cream tub and tablets although sometimes if I run out I boil them in a pan for a couple of minutes.

With the tablets I haven't had a problem with the milk being tainted. I know lots of people aren't keen on this idea because of the chlorine smell. We can't get Milton here so I'm using a forrin equivalent.

Also my dd isn't fussy about the temperature of her bottle so we haven't needed anything high tech!

I'm using dr brown bottles for my6 week old, we have an avent electric steriliser and comfortably fit 4 bottles in.

If you have a microwave how about the microwave steriliser? Takes up less space than the electric one. We used the Dr Browns one with the bottles and it was fine. My tip would be to get two then you can do all your day's bottles in one go. Fits four bottles in with all the bits.

I second using a microwave steriliser if possible. I have a TT electric steriliser and bottles are only good for 3 hours afterwards. In my avent microwave steriliser they're good for 24 hours after. This means you can do bottles at bedtime ready for the next morning.

Thanks for all the input!

Hi Op we used the bottles and they are great. We also have the Dr Briwn Steriliser and 13 months later it's still as good as new. Personally we got our money's worth out of it. Brilliant product.

Brown not Briwn.
