Bloody mucus and possible preterm labour at 32 weeks.

I've posted this already somewhere else but was hoping to get some people's experiences so will post again, sorry!

I was told I was likely to deliver in the next 2-4 weeks, I'm now 32 weeks (exactly) and have just spent that last two days in hospital with suspected preterm labour, I was on the labour ward for the whole of Thursday, I had regular contractions (3 in 10 minutes) for a few hours but large doses of painkillers eventually slowed this down and my body seems to have regained control for now. I had both steroid injections so I was told if I go in labour now they wouldn't try stop it anymore.

I was allowed back home, I haven't had anymore blood loss but have lost a very large thick jellylike piece of mucus (no blood in it though) since coming home. I had lost a lot of bloody mucus just before going to hospital and in hospital.

Can I join your post for the advice and what to expect too please? I'm also 32 weeks exactly today and my waters went yesterday. I've had steroids but if I don't go into labour before they will be inducing me between 34 and 36 weeks also!

Yes of course, Laureamium I think until it's happened to you you just have no idea what to expect. It's so reassuring to hear from other people's experience.

Hi everyone

I'm here to hopefully reassure you. I went into preterm labour at 29 weeks, which they stopped and gave me steroid injections for the baby lungs, then she was delivered at 32 weeks when it started again and couldn't be stopped.

She's sat in front of me now minecrafting, she is 10 and perfectly healthy, you would never now.

When she was born, at 32 weeks she needed a little help to breath for the first 24-48 hours but the steroids are so good, she was very quickly off any help for that. The suck reflex doesn't develop until about 34/35 weeks so she needed tube fed and in total stayed in hospital for three weeks until she was 35 weeks.

I remember how scared I was but if I could say anything to myself back then, it would be don't be so scared, all the medical support is amazing and at 32 weeks plus now they don't expect your baby to have any issues beyond needing additional help to grow and feed. There is also somehting lovely about little babies - and you certainly get your money's worth out of Thr newborn size clothes!

Good luck all of you.

That is really reassuring RJnomore. I am really scared I'm about to go in labour anytime now, I've had a bit more bloody mucus and I'm getting quite painful Braxton hicks but maybe I'm just freaking myself out.

Just a short update and asking for advice really.

Since coming home from hospital I've had more bloody mucus on and off, it's increased a bit today. Definitely mucus though and not period type blood, although the mucus is not only tinged pink it's like mucus that's made of blood (iykwim, sorry tmi). I'm seeing consultant tomorrow anyway for something else but I will talk to her about it then.

Just wondered if this has happened to anybody else and should I be worried about labour restarting? Just opinions really until I see consultant tomorrow to out my mind at ease.

I had a bleed and contractions at 32 weeks, was admitted and monitored for three days. Then re-admitted, as it kicked off again! They weren't that concerned about possible delivery at 32 weeks, but I would have had to be transferred to a hospital better equipped with pre-term babies
In the end, DD had to be evicted, at 40 weeks!

Oh that's a relief Millie i think I'm worried because on Thursday it really seemed like I was going in labour, was sent to labour ward and the consultant I saw on the day seems prepared for labour to progress.
