low lying placenta

Hi.
I'm 23 weeks pregnant with my second ds. Told that I have a low lying placenta.
Question to you all, if you have had a low lying placenta in previous pregnancies did it move at any stage from low to normal? I'm just wondering if it's likely to move.
It's apparent that I produce small babies. My first was 3 days late and only 5lb 6oz so my worry is that if it doesn't move and I have to have a c section which the consultant said May be a possibility, I will need this earlier than my due date which will mean its likely my son will be even tinier as he won't have those extra two weeks or so of filling out.
Any previous experience / knowledge would be grateful

Thanks

Hi mine was grade one low lying at 21w scan. It has now moved to high. (34w). They said it was 90% likely to move as the uterus stretches and so it did; there were no issues. What grade did they give you?

Watching with interest, OP as I am in the same boat as you.

I wasn't given a grade at hospital.

I had a Grade 4 and it stayed a Grade 4, I'm the exception though, most do move. Despite this my pregnancy ran very smoothly although I did have to be admitted at 36 weeks just in case I went into labour, which is obviously dangerous when the placenta is in the way, but I had nothing by way of bleeding and a very calm elcs at 39 weeks. Hope it moves for you though OP

Oh and to add, they will give you steroid injections if they think there's much chance of having to deliver you early, so that will help baby's lungs, but you're a long way off needing to worry about that yet, you have a long time to see movement.

Mine was low lying at 20 week scan with second pg, I had to go back for another scan (about 32 weeks?) and it had moved, they said not to worry at the time as they often do move.

We're you advised not to have sex? My sonographer just said that I had a low lying placenta and would need a second scan at about 32 weeks. Nothing else about avoiding sex or vigorous exercise or to go to hospital if I had any bleeding.

However, everything I have read online has said to avoid sex. I'm not sure if that is after the 32 week scan or before, though.

I had this when pregnant with DC1 and was told it was completely covering my cervix. Thankfully it had moved clear by the time I was re-scanned, hope the same happens for you!

Thanks for the responses.
I'm really hoping it moves like it did for some of you.
They didn't put a grade nor mention no sex etc but now I've googled ( stupidly) I'm a little apprehensive about that. Would hate to bleed and end up in hospital! Shock
My consultant asked if I'm more active with this child / pregnancy than with my previous and thinking about it now I'm not sure whether he meant I should be more active or slow down. I'm a size 8-10 ( so don't think he meant it as in due to being over weight etc) and I did mentioned I was very busy with , work etc
Do you think he would have been saying it for me to keep active ( in the hope that it will help it move) or stay less active to rest up and take it easier ? Wish id asked now!
