Risk assessments at work

Hi I'm 15 weeks pregnant and work as a healthcare assistant, so its a very manual job. I told my boss about 8 weeks ago but there hasn't been a risk completed. When is it usual for one to be carried out? Thanks

I work in the nhs and I told my boss last Monday I was pregnant. I'm having my risk assessment tomorrow (I'm 13+3). Not sure if there is a rule but have you asked your boss again?

I am a health professional in the bhs, I had my first risk assessment done at 13 weeks and I have my second one on Friday at 20 weeks. Your manager really needs to get sorted with this.

NHS not BHS!

Tiredemma · 23/02/2015 20:43

I am a manager in te NHS and I do one straight away (ie within 7 days of being told) I then do a further 4 at least throughout pregnancy.

You need to push for your RX Assessment to be done.

Thanks for the replies. Will try and catch the assistant manager tomorrow as the manager has now gone on holiday! Wish I worked for the NHS as the home I work for doesn't seem to play by the rules

I'm a sister in a home. I would do you one straight away, with you, to discuss what adjustments you feel you need and what I recommend so it's mutually agreed.
I would start with manual handling, rest breaks, antenatal care, shift pattern/length and any concerns you might have.

Hey, I agree with secretspy I interface quite a bit into HR in my role and the advice is to always complete a risk assessment at the earliest opportunity.

Hi I am very early into my pregnancy. I lost my first and am very frighten. I have told my boss. I work with a special need child in her own home and since telling mum I feel that she is picking on me. Not mentioned a risk assessment and i am worried about my money situation, can she get rid of me.

Firstchild7 · 21/11/2017 18:20

Trying to get a risk assessment don't was like pulling teeth consistently nagging at the they did one at 7 weeks then refused to do another one saying that lasts your hole pregnancy!

HolyShmoly · 21/11/2017 21:37

Although there isn't an actual legal obligation for an employer to do a risk assessment once you tell them you're pregnant, it's very much best practice (and to do them regularly during the pregnancy as obviously your needs change.)

Combined do you work directly for the mother of the child, or are you employed by an agency?
