Reasons for high HCG levels (and a BFP) at 8dpo?

Yep ... I got a BFP at 8dpo, 10 dpo, and 12 dpo. I am now about 5+4, and most definitely pregnant.

But I am bothered over the fact I got a BFP so early. It's not even supposed to be possible to get a BFP at 8dpo. We only dtd on two occasions in the conceiving cycle, so I know the first BFP date was 8dpo ... and there is no chance I conceived prior to this date.

Does anyone know why my HCG levels could have been so high so early on?

Snowy if I got a positive the friday, day of ov would be from the sat, 1dpo would be sunday, therefore 7dpo would be the following Saturday (my first +) :)

There's no way of knowing when after the positive opk ovulation occurs. It could be the coming down of the lh surge you detect and if ovulation occurs around 12hrs after the peak of surge, it's perfectly possible to ovulate the day of seeing the positive. Even if the positive opk occurs at the peak of the surge and you pick it up in the morning, you could easily ovulate that evening. Agreed, you could ovulate later too but there's no way of knowing.

My general point was that you won't have tested positive for pregnancy at 3dpo. You were more likely 7/8dpo and just missed the surge Smile.

Faithope, I always doctored my lmp date to fit with when I know I conceived. I ovulate on day 9/10 of my cycles so just gave my lmp as 5 days earlier. Grin

Oh I know 3dpo is impossible snowy hence I've sent CB an email telling them their test is a pile of shite!! I even tested twice on the monday, but didn't get the smiley til Tuesday. They've asked me to call them. I still think I ov'd the weekend before like normal. I was just saying that when you work out the dpo, it was 7 rather than 8. I had ov pain as normal on the Sunday (the day I wrote to CB telling them I'd ov'd yet their tests didn't pick it up!) :) Just glad I didn't pay for them and the hospital gave me them!!

CB are a pile of shite. They make a fortune out of clever marketing and preying on the anxieties and hopes of vulnerable women. And £13 to piddle on a glorified stick? They can jog the feck on.

Got mine at 8 dpo, been barfing constantly since. Have a feeling it may be twins but really, it's my first pregnancy so what do I know? :) I'm basing it on voodoo, really, only a scan will tell!

While its not the norm, it's not that unusual to get a positive at 8 dpo, and the HCG ranges overlap for singletons and twins, so until you get a scan, you can't tell.

I hope you have a healthy happy pregnancy this time around. I understand your worries, why don't you book an early private scan..? From eight weeks I was advised. Mines in two weeks and I'm nervous / excited. Once I've seen the heartbeat ( and that there's not an entire five a side team in there) I think I'll feel better! Good luck to you.

i had a strong urge to test around 8dpo way before i missed my period. it was positive but super dark for 8dpo. do you think i could be expecting twins?
