Hi everyone,

I started pregnancy with a healthy bmi of 22.
Currently 15 weeks pregnant and due to bad nausea and constant eating(cake cake cake!!) to help this and make me feel better in the first trimester, and of course no motivation to keep up my daily walking routine, I have put on around 7 pounds but feel really sluggish and tired now.

Now I am feeling alot better again I want to go back to my healthy eating and daily walking, which will inevitably mean I will lose a few pounds.
I have heard it is no danger to the baby as long as you lose no more than 10% if your starting body weight, especially if you were healthy to begin with.

Has anyone got any advice on this?

Don't diet and se that you are eating enough calories, but if you just cut out cake and walk, there's certainly no harm in that.

I wouldnt advise dieting in pregnancy but eating plenty of lean meats, vegetables and the like will benefit you and the baby.

You will gain weight in pregnancy, thats life. And you can still eat cake just less.

I didn't lose weight in any of my pregnancies, but I gained very little weight during the last one.

I wouldn't aim to lose any tbh, not if you started pregnancy with a bmi of 22 Confused but if all you are doing is eating less cake and resuming your normal activity level I cant see a problem. Perhaps chat about it with your midwife at your 16 weeks check up (are these still standard?)

I agree with pp. just be more healthy from now on, do more exercise & eat good things (with the odd treat) and eat when you're hungry.

Please don't try & lose weight. You will naturally gain weight - in the main it is water, extra blood & baby rather than fat. Even gaining a bit of fat is normal - your body is programmed to lay down fat stores to aid with bfing at the end.

Definitely talk to your mw about it.
