I'm due to return to work tomorrow after 2 weeks annual leave.
I had my first midwife appointment today at 9 weeks and she suggested I go see my gp regarding HG. There were no ketones in my urine, but I'm being sick on average 7 times a day (one day it was over 20).
Really dreading going into work tomorrow.
Anyone else felling like it's going to be a long 9 months?

Are you sure you're ready to return to work? Being sick 7+ times a day will be hard to manage at work, not to mention the exhaustion that comes with vomiting so often, and the stress of always needing to stay near a loo. I'm sure your GP would sign you off for a few weeks, and there are lots of meds that can help, including (category-A) Diclegis.

I've been off work since week 4, was diagnosed with HG at week 5. I'm now 9 weeks and HG has got worse not better. I feel constantly nauseous and vomit every couple of hours. Resting helps, as does not having too much stress. Don't feel bad if you have to take time off work. Luckily my boss is understanding as she had pregnancy sickness herself, but even if yours isn't, all pregnant employees are protected by law against discrimination. They can't dismiss you or put you on sickness review if you're off sick with pregnancy-related illness.

And remember... in a few weeks the nausea and vomiting might ease off naturally. Lots of women experience relief around week 12-14.

Good luck and hope you feel better soon!

Sukie we must almost be due the same date! Thanks for your response makes it a little easier knowing your not on your own. I have a v stressful job and a meeting tomorrow with our HR contact, that was already scheduled so think I might discuss with them working from home or reduced working. I'm pretty sure they would prefer to come to some kind of agreement than have me completely off radar. Going to call my gp in the morning too. Just feel a bit of a fraud I have always said in the past about people complaining about pregnancy but I feel really ill!!! I know it will be worth it in the end though.

I'm astonished you are considering going to work. Can't you get some medication from your GP and ask them to sign you off? I'm not vomiting as much as you are but couldn't possible make it to work. Been signed off for 5 weeks and physically am not able to go back yet.

Corn berry your response makes me feel less of a wuss, I have a high pressured, blackberry with me on holiday, type job and being off sick fills me with dread. I actually burst out crying today at the thought of being ill at work again like I was before I was on annual leave. I will see how I feel in the morning about going in but definitely will phone the gp first thing. I've had anti sickness before anf had a bad reaction so said I wouldn't have any but reading the posts on here I think I need to give it a go.

I dragged myself to work for a week and it was bloody awful. I'm not mad about the meds and only take them when I'm desperate. Promethazine didn't agree with my but cyclazine is ok. Don't drag yourself to work - look after yourself and the baby xxx
