First scan not until 13+5

The title says it all. I would like the nuchal test but read it's less accurate after 14 weeks as the fluid will start to be absorbed into baby. What if this is already happening at 13+5? I know I can also have blood test but this is less accurate? I will try to change appointment but not holding out much hope. I am 9+3 and incredibly anxious as its my first plus have gone through fertility treatment to get here. Spoke to midwife who was unhelpful and said it is within guidelines, which it is. What are your thoughts? Will it still be accurate?

The guidelines are there for a reason. It'll be fine.

I had mine at exactly the same point.

My first scan is 13+1 and the midwife said it's fine before 14 weeks, think it should be ok. I can't remember what date I had it done last time but I had to have the blood test too, it was fine. Sorry if that's not helpful, I am not a doctor!

I had mine at 13+5 (and was spot on with lmp dates so no change of due date) and measured nt fine. Guidelines are up to 14+1 so got a few days to play with. Are you sure of your dates with the fertility treatment?

Please try and keep calm (easier said than done) as there is so much to worry about along the 40weeks and don't let yourself get stressed by the little things! You've got a scan booked within the timescales and that's good!

Wishing you a happy n healthy pregnancy Smile

I'm going to go against the grain here. Sorry! I was 13+6 when I went for my scan and the baby just wouldn't co operate to have the nt measured properly. Had I gone in earlier they would've called me back to have another go but as I was further along (and it was a Friday) it meant I couldn't have the Downs screening then. It was obviously stressful . I had the quad blood test and all was well but I had to wait until 15 weeks to have that. I was told that it isn't as accurate in that it tends to show a higher risk which would usually have been brought down by a nt measurement IYSWIM. If I were you I'd really push for an earlier appointment if you can and having the screening means a lot to you.

I had my first scan this week at exactly 14 weeks and the baby measured far too big for then to be able to do the combined screening. I think she said it could be up to around 80mm but measured in at 92mm. Dates were changed at the scan to 14+1, so one day ahead. I had to go in the following day as the quad test needs to be done from 14+2.

I was booked in at 13+3 and rang the ante-natal ward and changed it. They agreed it was cutting it too close as I wasn't 100% on dates and they might not be able to get the measurement the first time. As it happened, they couldn't get the measurement the first time (at 12 weeks) as baby was in the wrong position so I had to go back at 12+6 to get it.

The nhs website says 14&1 but from experience different hospitals operate under different cut offs ( I know this from a very stressful first hand experience of having 4 12 week scans) best to check with the hospital xxx
