Anyone else housebound with hypermesis?

I'm 8.5weeks, and since week 5 have only ventured out of my home a few times. I'm constantly nauseous and hate vomiting in public.

I was briefly hospitalised for HG, put on meds (which helped a bit to reduce frequency of vomiting) and I'm still on them.

If I go in a car I'm instantly sick when it starts moving. If I walk to the corner-shop there's a good chance I will be unable to go inside, and I've been sick in the street a couple of times. I haven't worked since week 4.

I'm bouncing off the walls! Anyone got any tips for coping?

I was completely housebound for weeks with HG.

Tiredness and stress make everything ten times worse. Bed rest helps.

Sparkling water, ice cubes are easier to manage than still water or other drinks. Relaxation CDs and radio helped a bit.

When I was able to eat, I found I could tolerate tiny amounts of plain boiled rice - about 2 teaspoons at a time, every couple of hours, sometimes with an equal amount of pureed boiled veg.

I couldn't digest anything like salad or raw veg, raw fruit, and couldn't eat meat until I was about 16 weeks.

When I was expecting my 2nd and had to go out I used to take lots of plastic bags lined with kitchen roll and just try to find a discreet corner to be sick.

It was grim. You have my utmost sympathy.

Me! Ive been housebound for roughly 11 weeks! I am attempting to go back to work next week on a phased return. I still have bad days though which is a worry. I am soooo fed up of the tv, day time tv is so bad. My ds is 9 and at school all day, so I'm stuck in myself. Probably better than trying to handle a toddler all day right enough. I'm 18 weeks now and its only starting to ease. Fingers crossed for all u unlucky hyperemesis struck ladies. Xxx

Not yet this time around but I was bed bound and in and out of hospital for months last time.

It started at five weeks and started to taper off at about 26-28 weeks. I was still sick every day but not half as bad as before.

Ice and frozen slushy drinks were the only way I could get fluids in me to stay put. I also found eating very small quantises of things (most wotsits) every hour or so would help ease the sickness.

Rest as much as you can. Warm baths are great for relaxing and can often help ease nausea. For me they did anyway.

You have my sympathies. HG sucks. It had me contemplated Suicide on at least two occasions. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Nappy sacks and wet wipes! The only way I left the house in weeks.
Also, was told by doctor that lemonade was easier on the stomach than water. A teaspoon at a time if necessary to keep it down. It was definitely easier to drink than water.
Good luck and congratulations Smile

Yes, been in bed except visits to doctor and hospital appointments since I stopped being able to drag myself to work at 6 weeks. I also feel very lonely and isolated. When my OH is at work I'm by myself 12 hours and he has to leave piles of food for me to nibble on and buckets because I can't go far from bed due to the nausea. I also wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. I'm 12 weeks now and not improving. Been off work for so long And no idea when I'll be able to go back. It's so frustrating not being able to do anything. I've been watching Netflix when I can handle it and sleeping a lot in the day because Im most sick at night. You have my sympathy. X
