I am 35 weeks pregnant, have lost bits of my show, been having very strong, painful and mostly regular contractions since Friday before last, I have managed an average of 2 hours sleep most nights since then, with two nights creeping up to 4 or 5 hours - woweeee!! I have lost some sort of liquid this morning but I don't know if it is waters leaking or if it is more of the show but in a different form to what I had had before, or just phenominal amounts of discharge. And on top of all of that, the one thing that I really really really want - which is surprisingly sex - I'm not allowed to do!!

I am very pissed off now.

I am fine during the day really, knackered, and I moan a lot!! But it is at night when I get frustrated with the contractions and being awake.

Oh well, only a maximum of another 7 weeks to go...!

Just thought I would let you all know that the midwife has given me the go ahead for a home birth, as long as I can make it to 37 weeks, which by the scan dates is two weeks away, so please send me lots of stay pregnant vibes please!!

Oh, and she said the pool will be fine, as long as it is a proper birthing pool and not a paddling pool.

Hi NatalieJane, I wonder if you have a urine infection - I had this with ds1 at 27weeks and had regular contractions until he was born at 31 weeks. It may be worth mentioning?? My symptoms were the same incl the "bits' in urine. Good luck!

NatalieJane · 25/10/2006 21:21

Thanks girls

Annobal, they have already checked my wee, it was completely clear and free from infection. I haven't had any bits in it either, but thanks for the suggestion.

annobal.
i had the same typre of thing.they said i had wee infections alot during pregnancy which caused problems.

i had an irritable uterus and was in and out of hospital that many times in agony contracting.whe it finally was the real thing it was alot quicker (although not without complications).

we ended up with an unplanned homebirth but still having to go to the hospital after for stitches etc!

good luck.it wont be long now!

NatalieJane · 25/10/2006 22:29

Mumandlovinit, I know what you mean about the agony! The only reason I am still sat at home is because of my DS, if this was my first, I don't think I'd have even bothered coming home during the day!! LOL

I suppose I had better get used to it though, going ahead with the homebirth means no pain relief what so ever, except maybe the pool, so it is going to get a lot worse before it get's any better!

i had my second child when my first was 13 months old.the hospital told me that if i went back again with the same problem then they'd be keeping me in until i had him so i stayed at home instead which was why it ended up an unplanned homebirth as i though it was a false alarm again!

i had 1 shot of pethidine with my first and regretted it and had no pain relief at all with the second and i honestly found it easier with the second as i felt in control and focused and was with it to control the pushing etc.

i was told that the more preparation the body has before the actual labour then the easier the labour would be.mine was apart from he had shoulder dystocia and got stuck but without that issue it was certainly alot calmer and organised etc than the hospital birth that went wrong and me doped up on pethidine not being able to puch properly.

dont know if its all come across how i meant it to (reasuuringly) but good luck.

The feeling of control, or loosing it last time, is what is making me stand firm in the no pain relief option, with a home birth I could have gas and air (which I may try but DH is under strict instruction to take it off me if I go doolally again) and/or pethidine, which I would never go near again, TENS would just annoy me, so all I have left is the pool. I am hoping to stay out of the pool for as long as possible, so I can stay active and still move about, and then get in the pool for a bit of a rest(-ish!!) and I will probably get out for the birth, although I take on board that most women prefer to stay in the pool once they are in it.

I did well with the pushing last time (15 minutes no tearing, and DS had his hand up next to his head!) but I put that completely down to the midwife, she was very good at the 'pant pant push' thing!! I am hoping I will get away with no stitches this time, I had three internal ones last time due to DS's nails!

Glad it's not a urine infection! Both my DSs born without pain relief - when I tried pain relief with DS1 (gas and air) it also didn't agree with me and with DS2 I was begging for an epidural but as they went to put one in I went into second stage. I have to admit things hapened a lot quicker without the pain relief and it was quite managable (I say with almost 2 years reflection )

Good luck!
