TMI - IBS bleeding

Apoligies in advance.

Im 33 & 2, starting to feel pregnant now!
Ive suffered with IBS since my late teens, but for the last 2 and a half years i've had bleeding from back yonder, and now being in the third trimester with my mini human making toilet breaks more like an sas operation, lifes getting gross.

I just want some reassurance im not the only person who's had to live with this, and been ignored medically as 'its your diet, stop straining' etc.

I've been told by a midwife, dont accept no for an answer and to go to my gp today because im not just bleeding, im passing clots from back there and im constipated to the point that i cant eat. The last time and only time this was ever investigated was almost two years ago, where i had a flexible sigmoidoscopy without anaesthetic, told the doctor repeadetly that i couldnt breathe as they were doing the proceedure and blacked out/threw up. They rushed me out and ive never heard back since, been told to change my diet.

Halp :(

You really need to get to the GP. Bleeding is not normal even with IBS

Haggisfish · 19/02/2015 12:14

Much more likely to be thrombosed piles at the moment, and potentially piles with your ibs but you absolutely need to be looked at again. Back to gp!

I went to the GP, and got the same old rubbish. Only now its topped with 'and of course you are pregnant'.
Its not normal, its not acceptable and i feel like giving up.
I just want my body back.
As expected i was prescribed a topical steriod cream and pushed out the door.
Its not just a bit of blood, if i try to go for a number two, whether i strain or not, i am haemorraging and im sick of being told its my diet/pregnancy making it worse.

You need a different gp!

MissTwister · 19/02/2015 20:27

Seriously I would go to a different gp for a second opinion. Bleeding isn't normal and you probably will need a colonoscopy. I was due one in April but have had it postponed due to pregnancy, so likely they will do it after. In the meantime have they done a stool sample, they can tell a lot from that.

VikingLady · 19/02/2015 20:40

Can you take a photo of it? Or take in a blood filled stool sample?

obeliaboo · 19/02/2015 20:58

This is my new gp practice, i moved 8 months ago, then fell pregnant. You cant request to see the same practitioner, its always someone different every time. And its the closest practice to me.
I definitely need a colonoscopy or endoscopy, whichever, but i want anaethetic or to be knocked out. Last time was just traumatic.
Id feel daft taking in a stool sample but for the sake of showing how much blood there can be, i may be forced to. Just dont have anything to transport it xD

I've had many colonoscopy's whilst they're not pleasant they're doable. and they don't hurt
