Private late scan

Am currently 28 weeks and although my pg seems fine I saw some documentaries/ articles last year that suggested clearly that a late scan eg at 32 weeks (as some hospitals and countries do routinely) can help pick up issues eg with placenta that could lead to stillbirth and thus could reduce risk if appropriate action taken. I'm willing to pay for this privately. However I am wondering if anyone has experience of having issues detected in this way and then getting nhs midwife/Consultant to investigate further? Seems no point paying if nhs would not accept findings from someone independent....

I had a private growth scan at 32 weeks where they checked the placenta etc. funnily enough, the sonographer that did it was the same one who did my 12 week nhs scan. I can comment on any problems as all was well- however, I think your midwife would be duty bound to follow up any problems that were detected. I found it hugely reassuring to see that all was well and we also got to see her in 3d :) xx

They will print you a copy of their scan findings whether normal or otherwise for you to put with your notes and for you to show midwife ... she is then duty bound to follow up if need be if anything is found to be amiss

I'm only 10 weeks but I will be doing this this time. I told my mw they should be offered on the nhs and why and she just stared at me.

Thanks all. Think will get it done. Just remembered i am seeing mw tomorrow anyway so will ask her policy as to what she would do if anything suspicious found.
