Kings College - should I go for second unchallenged scan?

Hi
Will be 13 weeks tomorrow. I'm 41 - third pregnancy.
I requested a scan at Kings College as I know Dr Nicholaides from the FMC runs extensive research there and friends have recommend their experiences there. Being older, I was a little more cautious I guess.

However my scan date for Worthing hospital came through before the letter offering me an appointment at Kings.
I went to my local hospital in case I ended up missing the scan completely.

Very good sonograper at Worthing and results were: I was 1:80 (!!!) as I waled thru the door due to my age. Actual result (unchallenged plus bloods) 1:818.

I'm delighted with this and am wondering whether to cancel the Kings college scan next week. As I am concerned about over exposure to scanning equipment. I had an early scan at 7 weeks. Is 3 scans in 1st trimester a risk?

Also - Kings are running research and offering the Harmony test as part of their research programme. Should I still get the Harmony done? The team at Worthing say there is no need to do any further tests and 1:818 is a low risk.

Thanks!

Ultrasounds aren't harmful. They're just sound waves. Kings are the best with scanning but if you're low risk and feel happy with your scan then I wouldn't bother. If you're not totally reassured by it then I'd have the scan at Kings too.

I had 4 scans by the 12 week mark haha super paranoid. So I hope there is no damage, but seriously scans are no harm to he baby :)

I'd go tbh.

We went for a referral at kings. Our hospital have us a low risk of a chromosomal issue (more than 1:100). A scan picked up an issue so were referred to kings. They ran my blood results and came up with a 1:45 risk for T13 or T18.

Apparently they run a different 'program'. Turned out our dd had T18.

I'm sure they won't find anything h but I'd go, they have the highest skilled people there, it'd be silly to turn that down.

Hmmm. DP also thinks we should go. I don't want to waste NHS resources by having two scans but it does seem silly to turn down a team of excellent researchers looking at our baby.

My Nuchal measurement was 2mm at 12.2 weeks.

I think maybe I will go.
