Antenatal appts and work

Just a quick one, am I right in thinking that I am entitled to paid leave for antenatal appts?

My boss is making me taking them as holiday and I wanted to know where I stand before contacting HR.

Definitely. Don't let them argue otherwise.

No, you are entitled to paid time off for antenatal appointments - see here

I suppose there might be little differences depending on what kind of contract you are on, but if it's a standard full-time job (not a zero hours contract or something like that) then you are supposed to get the time off.

Absolutely illegal to force you to take them as hols.

Thank you everyone. I thought I was right! I am on a full time, perm contract.

My boss is an obnoxious little man at times!

I think your booking in appointment can be taken as leave/time made up. But everything afterwards is 'reasonable time' so for example. My next MW appointment is 3pm on a Monday. I asked my boss what was 'reasonable' and she said 'if I didn't turn up to work at all or left at midday' she said that it was fine for me to leave at 2.30pm. We have discussed some 'working from home' options as well.

Good luck with HR. HR and your QHSE department should be informing your line manager of these things and doing your risk assessment as soon as you tell them officially that you are preg. They HAVE To do this.

Good luck!
