Had severe itching on friday evening still didn't get any better the next day so rang hospital and was told to come to in and get checked.
Went on the monitor baby is fine thankfully my ALT level was slightly raised and they said I have to be monitored regularly and put me on urso tablets.
Anyone else been through the same experience? Not seeing my consultant for another week so im not sure if its likely I would be induced early or not! Im 34 weeks pregnant and want to give work a bit of notice as im due to go on maternity when im 37 weeks!!
Thanks in advance

My sister had OC, she had her c-section at 37 weeks. I think induction / c-section at 37 weeks is the norm x

Hi - I had OC, and swerved the possibility of being induced by going straight for a (consultant-approved) C-section, which was scheduled a couple of weeks before my due-date to avoid OC risk. (I had other medical conditions that had to be taken into consideration, too, hence the C-section.)

If there's any OC support or questions you have, please do ask!

The good news: the itching stops immediately you have delivered.

Thanks guys! bit more info I had my gallbladder removed a year and a half ago told this to doc and he said its related!
My alt level was only slightly higher than normal and iv read previous threads and other ladies had very high levels and not been induced so I guess it depends on my area and what guide lines they have.
Just want to get organised really not even packed my hospital bag Confused

My first baby was a c-section and had plans to have a vbac this time

It depends on your levels. They may not i Duce you early but often don't like you to go overdue.

You will defo need to discuss with your consultant - you cannot be induced if you have had a previous c-section.

VivaLeBeaver · 09/02/2015 11:54

Just seen your last post. They may not want to induce you at all if you've a previous section. Depends on the hospital.

VivaLeBeaver · 09/02/2015 11:56

You can be induced if you've had a previous section.

Some consultants/hospitals have a blanket no induction.

Others say ARM is ok but no syntocinon drip. So will break your waters if possible and give you a few hours to see what happens.

Some will be happy with a low dose of syntocinon.

I think some hospitals will even use prostin gel.

Ahh that makes sense. I have had babies at 2 different hospitals, and currently under another hospital, all are blanket no induction.

I didn't realise it could be different at other hospitals - apologies for any wrong info.

I've had 2 c-sections, and will be having another this time.

First was 40 weeks (had a labour but EMCS), second at 38 weeks (ELCS for medical reasons) same this time.

VivaLeBeaver · 09/02/2015 12:04

No worries. There's more evidence come out recently saying induction isn't as risky as previously thought so people's practice is changing.

Princessgrace2011 · 09/02/2015 12:19

The original plan was to go in at 41 weeks to be induced if iv not started naturally anyway so there not against induction after c-section

Induction at 39 weeks here. All fine after. Itching is a bugger though. Good luck
