I had a scan when I was 8+5 due to not knowing how far I was along ... Bean was there with a heart beat.

I'll be having a scan on the 26th when I'll be 12+5. I feel very UNpregnant though as daft as that sounds, I've not had one single symptoms so I'm tempted to pay for another scan although I can't really afford one. I'm worried my BMI will have affected my baby this is my only chance of having a baby too so i really want him/her.

Should I try and wait it out or not? My mum pointed out that there's no point but I don't know what to do :( wish I had a friend to talk to but it's all secret for the time being.

With my boys I had no symptoms whatsoever throughout their pregnancies ... I was 4 months gone with my first before finding out because I was still having bleeds etc. I'm on #6 now with a 'high bmi' which has no bearing over baby. It will mean you get tested for gestational diabetes (or did in my case) and perhaps a bit of consultant led care from 16 weeks if deemed high/moderate risk ... try not to stress ... baby will take all it needs and you will be the one to suffer before baby ever does ok!!
I have paid for private scans this pregnancy due to losing my son in late pregnancy last time and my anxiety leveld have been uncontrollable since my bfp with this one ... If you think it will settle your mind then book one ... to some people they are a waste of time/money and they will tell you so ... However they probably are not pregnant and not sharing your worries so do what's right for you ... how can peace of mind and seeing all is well with your baby ever be a waste of money??

Hi Little,

I was exactly the same as you. I had an early scan at 7+5 and then didn't have another until 11+5. My symptoms disappeared during that wait and I really wanted to go for another scan but DH put his foot down and he was right. It would have only given me a moment's reassurance! Symptoms do disappear as the placenta takes over. I'm now 38+4 and back to the waiting game.
Relax and enjoy being pregnant!

Sorry I should have stated my BMI is 14.

Thank you all for your replies. Sorry about your mmc tori you must hate people like me harping on! I didn't realise how hard pregnancy is on the mind constant worry and feels like time is in slow mo. I feel like my head should be constantly down the toilet like on tv shows etc but I've only felt sick once so far!

I had a reassurance scan at 9 weeks and I also had no symptoms other than being tired. I am now 24+5. Some people just don't get them. If you have a further scan you'll feel reassured for a few days then will potentially start to worry again. I still didn't feel pregnant at 17 weeks and was nervous about the 20 week scan, but started to feel popping movements at 18 weeks which was reassuring.

I was a fairly low weight and focussed on putting on weight initially, try not to worry. I know its easier said than done

It's definitely common to be anxious, especially when you have no symptoms. People often say that the sickness, etc. are signs of a 'healthy' pregnancy- it's nonsense.

I had no symptoms at all, actually felt better in the first tri than I had in a long time...had my dating scan last week (13+4), all was well. I was absolutely bricking it; I have the opposite BMI problem to you, mine was 36 at booking...I was sat in the waiting area physically shaking and on the brink of tears, so convinced was I that there would be something wrong until I saw 'junior' wiggling and squirming around on the monitor. It's perfectly natural to worry! Prepare yourself to be worrying for the next 20+ years!! Even now, although I've had my first scan the relief from that lasted all of half a day, and I'm still worrying about things like the results from the nuchal tests (I'm an 'older' first-time mum) and I'll probably continue to be in a flap again until my next scan at the end of March!
