Cloth nappies for dummies?

Talk to me about cloth nappies. I literally know nothing. Dc1 is still in nappies and due to allergies they don't even contain the geyser of shit that explodes several times a day.
Sorry to be graphic, it's just we wash shit from so many vests and pants I'm starting to wish I had just used cloth nappies.
I've heard mums having similar issues that use cloth find they don't leak onto clothes. dc2 due imminently and I think it might save us some time and money, what's the point in buying disposables and washing poo from everything too?
I literally know nothing though. How much do they cost? Are there different kinds? What do I do with them?

Have a look at the Nappy Lady's website. Videos, demos, explainers, tips etc etc. Plus a questionnaire you fill in as a first-time user where they assess which system they think is best for you. They helpfully offer around three different options to suit different budgets. You can also email or ring up for specific advice - which it sounds like you need!!! I have found them to be very friendly and approachable. Have bought, but not used yet as the baby is due in April. Hope you find a solution.

I bought a mixture, bum genius, fuzzy bums, little lambs, prefolds, tots bots, blueberry wraps and tots bots wraps.

My faves are bamboo little lambs and bum genius, birth to potty.

Little lambs are very reasonable, you need size ones (up to 20 lbs) my 17 month old still fits in them, he is small. Then size twos. Then you can buy a variety of wraps which you use a couple of times unless they get pooey! I got some cheap prefolds which are good spares. Little lambs on their website were 5 for £25, plus I bought a couple that had been preloaded.

Your council may give you money back too.

To save further Buy extra fluffy inserts and make cloth wipes from bamboo cotton, they have saved us lots, we make a spray containing tea tree and lavender, soothes when he is teething.

I'd second the nappy lady's website, her questionnaire can really narrow down what would work for you as a family and she has great info and YouTube videos to help too! I went with her advice for DS and have just washed and sorted them out for Dd due in April!
