How early can you feel movements?

I'm currently 10+1 with my first and several times today I've had a strange feeling, almost like my tummy doing somersaults, but a bit lower down. I tend to feel it when laying in bed or after eating. I wasn't expecting to be able to feel anything yet so is it likely to just be my digestive system?

grocklebox No you don't have to explain it, but you're pissing on these ladies parades and I'm trying to fathom why their happiness (albeit, in your opinion slightly delusional) is bothering you? :)
Again, not trying to be confrontational, it's always good to have an opinion outside the box and all that.

I felt my first kick/thud (which is unmistakable) at 18w5d on Boxing Day. Was amazing. I had little swirly churny feelings at around 16 weeks.

Everyone is different. No pregnancy is the same.

I read that slimmer woman feel movements better and earlier than bigger woman. My friend is lot bigger than me and first felt at 25 weeks, whereas I felt mine at 16 weeks only a few times. Now I am 19 weeks I can assure anyone that was definitely movement!

She did not believe that I first felt movement at 16 weeks because for her it was different. If you read online the guideline starts from 16 weeks however they also do say varies on a size of a woman and how many pregnancies she has had.

I asked count the kicks when I should count the movements they advised 25 weeks. So please do not worry or panic like I did as I got the wrong end of the stick over it all.

Exciting times ladies xx

I've been thinking about it, and I could be further long than I think. I had the mirena coil out on 30th October and had a 4 day withdrawal bleed. I then had another 4 day bleed starting 22nd November. But now I'm thinking maybe that wasn't a proper period. I have no idea when I ovulated and I got my BFP on 18th December.

TBH I wouldn't expect "somersaults" at 10 weeks purely because of the size/development of the embryo (it's not yet a fetus - limbs not developed etc).
After 12 weeks it's more developed. But even so most women feel nothing till 17+ weeks (whatever Internet forums convince us!!). Earlier is not unknown but is unusual.

...also your uterus itself will move and flex as part of pregnancy. Could it be that?

If you are a future MN user reading this and worrying, visit count the kicks or nct websites to verify the usual times to feel things honestly no one worries until 22+ weeks about not feeling anything (and that's regardless of placenta position). Smile

Sergeant threads like this can really, really worry 1st time pregnant women or women pregnant after loss (see PP who called an anti stillbirth charity for reassurance in a panic). When people either claim very early movement or say their normal gestational movement was late due to placenta position it can worry women greatly.
In the time I've been on this board, threads like this are always followed by worried threads.
Mind you MN is much better than babycentre where other posters encourage you to "see the doc babe" if you're not showing and kicked by the 1st trimester! Grin

Yeah my doctor tried telling me I was 4 weeks before I should of been! I knew I was right and lucky I self referred myself myself to the hospital as I put my dates down and was confirmed right at the ultrasound.

If you are in doubt contact your early pregnancy unit, they may allow you to have am ultrasound to check and confirm the date.

Due to my doctors error I could of potentially missed the nuchal gold test as it can't be done after 14 weeks.

@squitiza .. Yeah I joined count the kicks Facebook pge, and to be honest it really scared me as I saw in horror stillborn experiences on posts my other woman.

I ended up asking them when to start counting and they sent me the link below;

Definitely starting to think I may be further along than first thought. If you press lightly, you can feel movements in my uterus. And its been happening a lot today. This definitely isn't just wind.

Omg lulu I had to unfollow the Count the Kicks facebook page as the stillborn pictures and stories were getting me really upset and worried and I was only 13 weeks! :(

I had a Count The Kicks wrist band and followed their advice to the letter in my high risk pregnancy. Smile

They give good accurate advice.

The problem is when forums/face book give the impression you should be counting kicks far earlier than they advise it can create great worry.

I was even accused of being "lax" for quoting them. They are obviously very cautious and not lax at all!

OP ooh further along ... very exciting! Grin When will you next get a scan to confirm?

I have my 12 week scan booked for 16th February. But now I'm worried I might be too far along for them to do the nuchal test thing.

@leanne .. I know tell me about it, think I will unfollow too as I found it heartbreaking and slightly confusing advice from other users. But I will say I think the advice from count the kicks is good.

@dillydollydarling speak to the hospital midwife team you are with about it, due to a error mine managed to fit me in on New Years eve x
