Hello all Grin

In 3rd tri now and finding maintenance of my ladybits quite difficult as I can no longer see it! So beginning to sport quite a impressive rug down there.

Short of asking DH to 'mow the lawn' for me, is there anything I can do? Are hair removal creams safe to use?

Bit worried that when I go into labour the midwife won't be able to see what's going on down there Grin

Just a word of caution...I had a wax a couple of weeks ago (at 32 weeks) I have had plenty before but tend to only do so in Summer / for a holiday and the rest of the time trim / shave. Obviously I can't see now down there so I thought I would go for a wax now and keep it trimmed until I am due....I am likely to need a C-sec so again that's another reason for keeping it trim.

I don't no what sort of wax she used but a. it was pretty painful (but I could stand it) but b.) left me sore and c.) had a totally awul rash for a week, needed medicated cream and could definitely not even entertain the idea of having sex during the time. d.) it's still a bit itchy / bumpy now.

Has been a total nightmare, not sure I can risk this again just before the birth so may resort to shaving...but am worried about the re-growth...

Someone mentioned hot wax earlier and I think the salon I went to perhaps used the strip wax which is why it was so bad?!

Mathanxiety, as I said, the OP is not asking for your opinion on whether of not to remove her public hair. She is asking for advice on the best way to do so. It's none of your business if she wants to remove her pubic hair, just as its none of my business if you wish to leave yours be. So please big off back to the feminism boards where I'm sure your views will be welcomed with open arms.

Please excuse spelling errors, my phone likes to auto correct as I press "done".

My hormones have made things go wild. DP prefers the natural look but I wanted to keep the borders in check so I could go swimming without being too scary looking. I started having waxes (just the edges and the bits that grow down my thighs...) and the lady who does it usually offers a trim with a small set of clippers too. I only get this done now and again as she does take it a bit too short for my liking. I wouldn't use cream for the first time shortly before birth - the last thing you want is a burnt, peeling fanjo just in time for labour. I'd used creams on different body parts for years and got a reaction on my legs out of the blue. It was like sunburn - not pleasant.

BlueberryWafer · 02/02/2015 13:41

Pisghetti I agree re the not using cream, you can react differently to creams and things when pregnant, so probably not the best place to be getting a reaction! Can imagine that would be quite painful!

Gemzybelle · 02/02/2015 14:49

Oooft couldn't imagine having a peeling, sore fanjo while giving birth. My skin has been a bit unpredictable during pregnancy so don't think I would dare risking a wax!

I understand what people are saying about pubic hair being there for a reason etc but I think for me if I do end up with stitches I would rather be able to see what's going on without fighting through masses of hair Grin

Also I think some of it is me desperately trying to feel like I'm making an effort with myself as I normally would despite being heavily pregnant. I'm sure once the baby is here it will be like Planet Of The Apes againGrin

Snowy- defiantly sounds like strip wax! My foof is on fire for a week after that!

Hot wax is the way to go for the future for you! Xx

You know how they say hair grows more when you're preggers. Nice thing about tresses and mine have indeed been much fuller, not shedding as much, but I thought I would be like a gorilla everywhere else too. Luckily not so. In fact, in my legs there is barely any growth at all! I shaved 4 weeks ago and they are still pretty smooth bar a few straggly ones. Amazing! Shock Must be the winter and keeping them covered up.
If only the same can be said about my lady bit. I think trimmed is ideal (for the purpose of labour too) as not too wild to get tangled/smelly from the discharge but not bare and sore either. So I usually use my Phillips epilator that plucks on bikini line and DH's trimmer on rest, but can't now, so I use epilator cream and it's worked a treat. Did a bit of finishing off with the razor blind but not too close. Don't care if it's not perfect, just a comfort thing for me..

misseskimo · 02/02/2015 20:41

I usually have just a high bikini wax every month, as it's easier and cleaner to get "underneath" so to speak, and then trim the bits in-between. My sister goes the whole hog every month when we go and it literally does take maybe 7mins in total with hot wax? But I still think would be too painful personally (though she did say a while back how will I deal with childbirth!?) Lol. I much prefer waxing to shaving or creams as it's gone for a good 3-6wks depending on how quick your hair grows back. Much easier!

Although to save money I've just switched back to my epilator, it's not as quick as waxing, so can feel slightly more painful as it's obviously not done in one go, but I found with my wet & dry it was easy without looking to just roll it underneath whilst in the bath to get the sides... Though I still couldn't manage the whole hog, it does neaten it up a bit, so that's always an idea? I just put my hand in a line from my inner leg and then ran the epilator up the side of it until I didn't feel anything pulling anymore. DH had a look after for me and mentioned that my trimming in the middle with the clipper was messy as heck, but the bits I epilated were really clean/straight lol.

So can you put hair removal cream "down there"? I often shave because DP prefers not to get a mouthful of hair BlushGrin but it itches like a bastard and is awkward as fuck. I have thought about waxing, for all of about two seconds, its only the "business end" that i am interested in removing the hair from.
