Hi all ð??? I'm currently 25 weeks pregnant And have started to find it a struggle to breath properly in the evenings especially before getting into bed. Not sure if this has something to do with my asthma or if its part of the pregnancy. Is anyone else experiencing the same?? Is it something to worry about or is it normal?

Hi. I used to suffer from sports related asthma before I was pregnant and only needed to use my blue inhaler when I was doing a heavy workout (eg. Running). As my pregnancy progressed I started getting quite wheezy towards the end of each day before bed for no reason I could see so know exactly what you are talking about. I talked to my dr about it and I have been given a brown inhaler (that prevents rather than resolves wheezing) that I take two puffs morning/evening and so far it has worked a treat. It does take a few days to build up but I haven't had to use my blue inhaker for a while now and I am 33 weeks so lungs are a bit squashed up! Apparently, pregnancy can really accerbate asthma so I would get down to your GP ASAP - not being able to breathe is not nice or necessary!

Although it has resolved this issue I now appear to be suffering from pregnancy rhinitis which means my nose is blocked every night, I can't breathe through my nose and am snoring like a truck driver (allegedly Grin) I wake up with a dry mouth and a very grumpy partner...

Good luck Flowers

Have you had your iron levels checked recently? I have been quite anaemic with this pregnancy which has left me quite short of breath..might be worth checking.

Off topic, but i read somewhere that if asthma gets worse in pregnancy it is a girl....if worse before get into bed could there be dust issue? Try vacuuming pillows and matress next time changing bed (just in case)

That's interesting peppapig as I am on iron supplements as it was on the low side. My Dr didn't mention that.
