I wasn't too well with my ds 9 years ago but I plodded thru and managed into work. I'm now 15 weeks with dc2 and I am so ill. Have been singed off work with hyperemesis for last 9 weeks. Am I having a girl? Xx

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Could well be. I had bad sickness with my son (2-5 vomits a day, constant nausea) but baaad hyperemesis with my daughter (up to 30 vomits a day).

The nurses in hospital were sure it must be a girl as I was so sick.

Thanks, it would make sense xx

I'm having a girl and had no sickness at all. My mom was the same with each girl (that would be me) and boy.

Hellohellohowareyou · 27/01/2015 18:51

I had hyperemesis with my son but am currently expecting a girl and have had it way worse this time round, have been off work for 12 weeks in total. Hospitalised both times though but definitely worse this pregnancy!

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 27/01/2015 18:54

I had two girls and no sickness with either.

Sallycinnamum · 27/01/2015 18:54

I had mild sickness with my Ds and appalling vomiting with my DD.

In fact when I had my 20 week scan I knew it was a girl before the sonographer told me.

My consultant said it's something to do with the levels of oestrogen or something so it can be worse if you have a girl.

geekymommy · 27/01/2015 18:55

I was sicker in my first pregnancy with DD than I have been in this one. We had a CVS and know this one is a boy.

Sallycinnamum · 27/01/2015 18:56

Mind you, having said that I have friends who had awful sickness with boys.

juneau · 27/01/2015 18:56

I think it can be bad with either boy or girl. Just look at the Duchess of Cambridge - she was hospitalised with hyperemesis and had a boy.

BikeRunSki · 27/01/2015 18:56

I was hospitalised with hyperemisis several times when I was carrying dd.

But then I was when I was carrying ds too.

SweetsForMySweet · 27/01/2015 19:00

I was very sick throughout my last pregnancy and I had a boy. My sil had hyperemis in both pregnancies and had one boy and one girl.

grocklebox · 27/01/2015 19:06

symptoms and severity of same have nothing at all to do with the sex of the baby.

geekymommy · 27/01/2015 19:25

If you have hyperemesis, it's slightly more likely that you're having a girl: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22663323 But it's not anywhere near a certainty. Kate Middleton had hyperemesis, and she had a boy.

applecore0317 · 27/01/2015 19:27

I'm having a girl and had no sickness whatsover, am 23 weeks now

Bigbadgeorge · 27/01/2015 20:10

I was waaaaay more ill this time than with dd and I am expecting a boy! I thought it must be twins at the beginning it was so bad. My sister was the same, ok with dds but sick as a dog with ds

DramaAlpaca · 27/01/2015 20:14

I was sick in all three of my pregnancies and had boys each time.

LikeSilver · 27/01/2015 20:17

I've had two HG pregnancies, both requiring several hospitalisations, but DS was far worse than DD (DD was first).

LIG1979 · 27/01/2015 20:40

I was sicker with this pregnancy (a ds) than I was with dd. but for others it has been the other way round. Personally, I think women often get sicker with 2nd or later children because they are less able to rest.

weeblueberry · 27/01/2015 21:13

There's a 50% chance you're right.

HenriettaTurkey · 27/01/2015 21:20

I had horrible HG with DS.

rubyboo2 · 28/01/2015 09:55
