Hi - I had dizziness with my first pregnancy though not as extreme as your friend. The Doctor told me to take Pregnacare to ensure that I had all the vitamins that I needed, as I felt sick alot of the time and wasn't eating much. This might be worth a try and definitely won't harm her or the baby if it doesn't work.

I am 9+3 and have also been experiencing dizziness with this pregnancy. I didn't have any symptoms with ds and dd so it is strange. unfortunately i can't stay in bed all day (although I'd like to) I find that drinking plenty and eating little and often is helping. It's probably low blood sugars but remember to snack on slow releasing things like fruit and veg, bannanas are very good. Otherwise you tend to get an imediate hit and then a quick come down again.
btw I have mentioned it to my gp and he said it is normal, didn't give me a reason just said not to worry about it.

Dizziness often caused by low bp during pregnancy, depends what's normal for your friend. Drinking fluids frequently will help, and I was also advised to move around every half hour, just up and down the stairs, to keep vessels open etc. That seems to be helping me, I've had v.low bp for some weeks with 2nd pg (had it with first too). Keeping iron levels up prob. wouldn't hurt either, even if tests are ok she could be borderline as it's so common - I'm taking Spatone iron supplements from the chemist to try & boost my iron. Eating regularly is a must to keep her blood sugar up, doesn't have to be much, just every couple of hours - this is good for nausea too. Oatcakes, toast, that kind of thing.

Hi Sana,

I was dreadfully dizzy for my first trimester. Blood-sugar: fine. Haemoglobin: fine.

Of course the docs should keep an eye on her, but it's probably just one of those things. I know I was shocked by how ill I was: couldn't work for two and half months.

I really hope she feels better soon.
