Hi

just wondering whether anyone has suffered from panic attacks? I am only just over 6 weeks and my 12 week scan seems ages away! I've never experienced anxiety and didn't think I was worrying as much as I must be as today I had a full on panic attack. I couldn't breath I went dizzy and all because I'd made myself think it was possible I'd turn up to my 12 week scan and there would be something wrong or nothing there atall Confused Blush I've taken 4 positive tests so I'm definitely pregnant but I can't seem to stop myself from worrying. .. anyway just wondering whether anyone else has experienced this or something similar? X

Hi.

I really really feel your pain. I wasnt having panic attacks but I didn't sleep and was constantly on edge and its all I could think about.

I have suffered from panic attacks before and did everything I knew how to do not to have one, in the end at 8 weeks I told my midwife how I was feeling and she agreed to have me scanned. I then actually slept until my 12 week!! I am 16 now and a lot calmer so its worth mentioning.

I know how you feel and theres so many horror stories about missed miscarriages but please believe me when I say as long as theres no intense pain and no bleeding then you will be fine.

But theres no point carrying on like this so Talk to your midwife xxx

Thank you, it's nice to know I'm not the only one! It's just strange because I don't find myself to be a worrier generally but this must be playing on my mind... I'll definitely mention it to her on Tuesday! Don't think I'd last the 12 week if it carries on ha Thanks Smile x

I had them too early on, you'll find other posts related to this, it might be worth looking through some old posts to see others experiences. It's completely normal and often your hormones just working over-drive. Make sure you take time for yourself to relax, it's not nice at all :( Thanks

I've booked a private 7 weeks scan. It's cost £99 and I'm hoping it will put my mind at rest?
Might be worth the peace of mind?

A private scan sounds like a good idea! Would definitely calm me down.

thanks! x

I didn't have panic attacks but felt very anxious (and still do at 11 weeks) so I booked a private scan for when I was 7+5 and it really put my mind at ease, I highly recommend it. It cost 80 pounds and was worth every penny. The private scans are really lovely as they take the time to show you everything and explain it all. We even saw and heard a heartbeat! I'm now anxious again as it's been ages since that and I have my 12 week scan a week today! I think my mild anxiety is due to lack of sleep as much as anything though, I'm having crazy dreams!

Everything will be ok though, as a PP said above, unless you have pain or bleeding I'm pretty sure it's just cooking away nicely in there! Good luck and try to relax.

Dont forget if you hear a heartbeat the risk of miscarriages drops by 98%

Purplecircle · 20/01/2015 21:52

The place I found does them on weekends so we can both go without work hassle.

Didn't know that about the heartbeat/miscarriage thing. Makes me feel better. This pregnancy is very different to the last one that ended badly. I'm taking that as a good sign Smile

It will be. Try not to worry so much. I did and it didn't help anything x
