early pregnancy wear-hiding the early bump/bloat

you know where your clothes don't fit but it's too early to wear proper maternity wear.

We are due to visit/stay with distant family before my 12 week scan. I don't want to look pregnant as we won't have told siblings etc, but as this is my second, and I am not as fit/lean as previously I expect to be showing earlier.

I don't want anything tight/shape enhancing. I was thinking of elasticated waisted jeggings, long tunic tops and long line cardigans. I don't mind if people think I have got a bit fat!

what did you wear?

Jeggings are a god send! And longer tops to hide the elastic. ..im 14 weeks and quite obviously pregnant so just dont bother trying to hide it anymore. ...this is number three for me and have been predicted a 9lber so im huuuge!!! But in the early weeks definiteJeggings and long floaty tops

I still wear jeggings now...maternity pants are so expensive so I just buy bigger sizes its cheaper! Congrats on your baby

I found some good maternity clothes at asos. Got a pear of under the bump maternity jeans (they look nothing like maternity at all!!) for 30 quid and will be able to wear them after as well. Also got a simple jersey skirt looking like a completely normal skirt for 12 quid which you can wear with whatever you want. Also got a good pair of (proper) maternity jeans from John Lewis for £26. And nobody has not hunched anything so far (I'm 12 weeks but have a small bump/bloat already). So lots of good value stuff out there, just needs a bit of research! :)

I found new look to be great, got a few bits in the maternity section there in the early stages and am still wearing them now at 35 weeks. Also there were normal versions of the clothes in store so they arent obviously maternity wear. I completely agree with the jeggings they are amazing, i got maternity ones from matalan which are so comfy ill be wearing them after until they fall apart lol.Oh and primark do some great cosy long cardis. Oversized scarfs were also great. Im quite small so found buying bigger sizes didnt work for me as all looked misshapen on the arms etc. im rambling on now, hope this helped :)

From early on I wore Maternity tights from boots or M&S or Next maternity leggings plus maternity dresses from ASOS in black/dark colours as I suffered major bloating etc & wanted to hide at workConfused

I was hiding preganacy until 17 weeks at work.

I got 2 of these maternity tops which worked great, they look like regular wear and hide lots. Can be dressed up or down. I highly recommend them.

Also any open cardigan or jacket will distract from the belly as well as scarfs or big necklaces.

good idea about the scarves. I have love wearing them anyway. thanks for the links too.

if you want to hide the pregnancy, I would not wear maternity clothes - at least in my case, they make the almost bump way more obvious. I'm 15 weeks with my 2nd, and also don't want to tell people yet, so have found that normal trousers, and a floaty blouse do the trick quite well. Something like this type www.next.co.uk/x55142s3#899843x55

Autumn2014 · 19/01/2015 15:58

yes, I want to hide it that's why I was wondering what 'normal' clothes would help. I've got some maternity clothes from my previous pregnancy but they have pleats and are obviously cut for the bump. thanks for the next link.

Im a single mum to two already so 30 quid on a pair of pants that I will only wear for 9 months is expensive! I only buy bigger sized bottoms to accommodate bump..I buy floaty tops in pretty much my regular size

fatty

how buying bigger-size botoms will help you to save?

they might only fit you for some couple of months until your bump get bigger and they wont fit you after pregnancy.

I bought maternity over the bump work bottoms for 12 pound from New Look, after much ordering and returning from other places. I am 7 months now and got hell lots wear out of them already since 14 weeks, considering I wore them 4 days to work almost every week. I still have 3 more months of work in front of me.
