Do I just need tablets or would cream be useful at some point too for the scar? I have no idea if I would be able to apply cream and at what point but I am sure someone on here knows :-)

You use the cream on bruising, but never on broken skin. So if there's any bruising left after the wound has healed then you could apply cream to that. Not sure how helpful that is, sorry!

I took the tablets. No idea if they helped or not though. My recovery was very straightforward

Great, have ordered the tablets, will leave the cream for now until I've healed up a bit!

Make sure you buy the real ones with arnica in them. Shops also sell homeopathy arnica pills (aka sugar)

Definitely the tablets, as a PP has said you don't use the ointment on broken skin.

If you are buying them (rather than prescribed by a homoeopath) get 30C potency rather than 6C, and obviously if you are seeing a professional then you may well be prescribed something stronger.

Arnica is the "go to" remedy for bruising and tissue injuries in our house, and if you haven't yet had your CS you could also take them a couple of days beforehand to reduce the bruising in the first place.

Once the scar has healed over, you could also try Vitamin E oil (you can either buy it as oil or if you can't get that buy high strength capsules and prick them with a pin), as it is great for helping skin repair itself.
