Hey all, I'm weeks away from baby number five and i've now become so engrossed in getting prepared for the arrival but i'm struggling to decide on a pushchair, We ideally don't want an expensive one so we both like the Silver Cross 3D but i previously had that with my last and the frame became so rickety i ended up getting rid of it. I've never really been a fan of Cosatto Pushchairs had a nightmare with my first tandem when i had my second child but i've grown fond of the Giggle but i've read nothing but horror stories regarding it, I've now found the Ooba but it's far too out of my price range now i don't know what pushchair i like. Any Ideas?

I think it's a minefield!! I've been looking at the new bugaboo 3. It's pricey but heard really positive things from friends who have one. I don't want anything clunky. I like the size of the cosatto but the colour choices are really garish in my opinion!

Silver cross 3D is a bargain but when I seen it in mother care it didn't look very sturdy, but suppose it's good if that's your budget limit. Think mother care had it with car seat for £250. We've ordered the silver cross pioneer, but the wayfarer is a bit cheaper - same seat & carrycot as the pioneer the different is chassis & type of wheels.

My giggle 2 arrived today. Haven't got it out if the box yet but did research online and tested one out in store. Seems they had problems with the first version on the giggle ones but no reported problems with the second version. They were on watchdog and since then issued what was changed- this is still on the original version.
They cone with a 4 year warrantee and I've read their customer service reviews, most are great.
We paid £367 from babys-mart.co.uk. Pushchair, carry cot, car seat, changing bag, foot muff and rain cover.
Looked at Quinnys too but giggle seemed sturdier so giving that a go!

I'm going for baby jogger city mini GT - £349 from John Lewis:
www.johnlewis.com/baby-jogger-city-mini-gt-pushchair-sand-stone/p969128

I'm getting the deluxe pram / carrycot attachment which is another £150 (JL sell the compact version for £89 but it's rubbish and won't last 5 mins it's so tiny):
www.pramcentre.co.uk/prams-and-pushchairs/carrycots/baby-jogger-deluxe-pram-carrycot/29905

Pros:

  • brilliant as pram (take all material off first before attaching carrycot) and brilliant as stroller for older kids
  • Easy to push, smallish footprint, turns on a six pence
  • 1 hand fold which is amazing
  • small when folded doesn't take up whole boot - relatively light
  • lasts birth to 3/4... Unlike travel systems which everyone ditches
  • brilliant hood best I've seen
  • reclines flat for 3/4 year old to nap
  • wheels good off road

Cons:

  • Not parent facing (but separate carrycot is)
  • not pretty like other models
  • smallish basket

Thanks. I think I'm gonna be out all weekend looking at pushchairs, I just really hope that I can get a nice one, all I can do is look around really but I agree on the case with the 3D frames I noticed it in toys t us aswell and from experience they don't last long and not idea when I need something that will last and is sturdy. I am rather disappointed that with the cossatto pushchairs that the uglier colours/patterns are a lot cheaper than those of the prettier colours so not very pleased with that.

I have the original giggle and have not had a problem with it. I had the front bracket replaced as a precaution even though my pram wasn't in the small batch effected. They had it replaced and returned to me within two days. Their customer service is brilliant. It's a fabulous pram. Very easy to push and steer and it folds up and fits in my tiny Peugeot 206 boot. I love the Ooba too but it's so expensive! I got my giggle from Amazon as it was the cheapest place at the time. The new patterns they have bought out are lovely Smile

I have the new giggle in fable. I haven't used it yet as still 3 weeks till due date. Like you I was worried about the issues with the 1st batch. But it seemed to be the best choice in our price range.
As pp has said as long as you register it with Cosatto then you get a 4yr warranty if anything goes wrong.
I stopped ppl in the street with the giggle and asked their opinion and everyone was really happy with their choice.

Lozzy3003 · 15/01/2015 07:51

I have seen online a few people are pleased with their giggle I love the different designs but I am not keen on 3 wheels that's why I like the Ooba but no way can I afford that but last night looking online I found the yellow/green colour nearly £400 cheaper than the blue or pink ones which is rather disappointing. I'm going to pop into shops this weekend and see if the giggle is in there and see how it feels to move around, I'm just annoyed that most systems are so expensive without the car seats, then it's an £100 & something for a car seat that they don't usually stay in long.

I have ordered the Britax Affinity its very sturdy get pushcahir with a newborn insert, colour pack, carry-cot, and car seat for under 500 did not want to spend any more then that it is a travel system but you don't have to get all that and don't need extra adaptors to fit car seat on to pushchair and are one of the safest car seats you can buy.
I don't see many britax around they seem to get over looked by other big names like bugaboo and things but I love mine maybe take a look at it. I went for it due to the suspension as I live by some terrible country roads.

Lozzy3003 · 15/01/2015 08:08

Might have to look thanks, me I live in a little town but the baths are so slim I'll be lucky if I can get a pushchair down there lol.

I have the Giggle and I love it. Light, easy to use, folds up for the smallest of boots. No issues whatsoever, does the job perfectly and so much better value for money that a lot of others.

teejayem · 15/01/2015 11:18

We're pretty much set on the Giggle in Pitter Patter. UberKids have a free car seat offer thrown in with an interest free deal, and a nice selection of Garish colours :) - far better than the small (sedate coloured) cosatto selection in our local mothercare. - We also have two small cars so folding size was important to us.

Lozzy3003 · 15/01/2015 13:08

the giggle seems a lot more popular on here compared to all the people that as issues with the original model, I also have issues with our car although we have a zafira we have 4 other children so all seats will be in use and the boot is extremely tiny. Anything that isn't bulky I good enough for me, I'm just worried on the three wheel front because I will just be getting my 2 year old out of his pushchair, though he is nearly 3 and walks a little he's it a big walker and I'm so frightened if pushchair collapses and I've gotta try and sort him out along with a baby.
