Hi girls,

I'm completely traumatised having come back from a failed sweep this morning. My cervix is in the wrong place ( posterior) and too high apparently, so she couldn't get to it and instead i just experienced horrendous pain while she rummaged around trying to find it! I hadn't expected it to be so painful- I was literally screaming- so now I'm terrified that I'm a wimp and how am I going to handle labour if I can't even manage a sweep!?

I'm booked in to be induced on Friday too.....help!

My experience was similar to yours although it wasn't even a sweep I had, just a midwife trying to see if I was dilating at all. She simply couldn't do it without me crawling up the bed and tilting my hips into the matress so she had no access. In the end she sent for some gas and air and two nurses to calm me down while she had a look. I was fine with that although I did have to live with the embrassement of being the woman who needed gas and air to let someone have a look! Turns out I could live with that.

I won't lie, I'm terrified of going in labour again or more to the point I'm terrified of having a midwife looking up at my cervix again. The labour itself was much better, adrenaline kicks in and there is loads else going on as well so you are quite distracted.

Hi everyone,

40+5 today. Went in for a sweep today but it had to be abandoned as I was unable to relax! Now I'm thinking how will I go through induction next week and labour.

Is it just me? Confused
