ELCS when do they book you in?

What is the general rule for booking ELCS? Do they aim for your due date or tend to go earlier or later? My last consultant appointment she said I would definitely need one and that we would book it in at the next appointment but just not sure what to expect.

Unless serious medical reasons to do it earlier they do them during week 39. That's the best balance between having a healthy baby and doing it early enough that you hopefully won't go into labour prior to the booked section and thus require an emcs.

Usually 39-40 weeks. Earlier and there is an increased risk of breathing probs for baby, later increased risk of going in to natural labour

It was at my 20 week appointment that I had mine booked. I was told the week beginning and asked to pick a date! (9 weeks today!)

When they make the booking date depends on the hospital - like me, early on or sometimes as late as 36/37 weeks.

The guidelines state c sections that are planned are done week during week 39. However, if there was an issue they are done at 37/38 weeks unless more urgently baby needs to come earlier. I have heard of some being after 40 weeks but only because of over demand.
