Right after looking for all those names to go with Tamuka - we've now changed our mind to

Takunda (got a nicer meaning - Tamuka means "we are awake" - whereas Takunda is we have overcome/won)

Anyhow - that's 99.99% certain to be the first name (if it's a DS)

Possible middle names I've come up with (so far) are

Reuben
Jabulani
Hosea
Benedict
Miles
Lerato

Come on - honest opinions please........

The name i think probably 'flows' best with Takunda is Benedict.

beckybraAAARGHstraps · 14/10/2006 23:37

Out of those, Benedict. Lerato sounds nice too.

But I thought you wanted English-sounding names (remembering from the last thread...)

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 14/10/2006 23:39

well - I do have Miles on the list.......most on the other shortlist I made DH wasn't keen on.

I've just spent the last few days trawling through baby name books and websites going through each letter individually - and I haven't come across any English names that I really like. DS1 ended up with a Hebrew middle name.....

hosea is a cool biblical name!

Micah would be nice too I think.

dont know if I would go with Miles or Benedict myself as they are a bit English!

CristinaTheAstonishing · 15/10/2006 01:38

Reuben goes nicely with it.

HumphreyComfreyCushion · 15/10/2006 01:39

I like Reuben.

milward · 15/10/2006 01:45

I like Jabulani

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 15/10/2006 20:45

I like Jabulani - but I have in the back of my mind somewhere that I've heard it before -a nd possibly not in a postive way???

Haven't shown DH these names yet (apart from Miles which was on my old list).

Munz · 15/10/2006 20:47

well Reuben, and Miles were on my list - depends what's your surname, don't forget to see what the inital spell out as well

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 15/10/2006 20:51

surname is long and starts with M - can't really be turned into anything to make fun of......apart from the fact that no-one can pronounce it LOL.

I've deliberately avoided all vowels (TAM,TEM,TIM,TOM,TUM !) and S and Y - as DS1 and 2 have those middle initials.

Aero · 15/10/2006 20:54

I like Jabulani - very African. The kids have a Christian CD with a song called Jabulani Africa on it.

Did I suggest Benedict on your last thread? It's a favourite of mine - flows well with your new name choice. Will you shorten Takunda?

BlackMagicMiaou · 15/10/2006 20:55

Oooh, I like Lerato - is it said with a long "a"?

Otherwise, Reuben floats my boat

Wallace · 15/10/2006 20:58

You're having a baby?! Missed that...congratulations

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 15/10/2006 20:59

BMM - I think it's said witha long a - that's how I would say it anyhow.

ediemay · 15/10/2006 21:01

Hosea or Lerato sound lovely to me - but they are all great names.

BlackMagicMiaou · 15/10/2006 21:03

was totally bemused as to who BMM was for a minute there!

Hey, a few South Africans Around huh???

My Dad's dogs name is Jabula! He is hanging onto his roots!

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 16/10/2006 08:06

I know Aero - thanks - I've only picked names that I like the meanings too - they're quite important to us when naming our kids - so I looked at the lists of meanings first - and the names afterwards LOL.

So what do you lot actually think about these names - honeslty...I know some of you have said X or Y will go with our chosen 1st name - but you've not actually said what you think of them!

lemonaid · 16/10/2006 08:33

I like Reuben, Benedict and Miles. Not so keen on the others (don't hate them either, mind). I think Miles sounds best with Takunda, though.

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 16/10/2006 09:11

I thought Miles went better with the (now redundant) first name Tamuka than with Takunda.

OP posts:
lemonaid · 16/10/2006 09:19

I don't know. I think with Tamuka Miles there might have been too many 'm's, while with Takunda Miles you've got that same flowing rhythm but no surfeit of 'm's.

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 16/10/2006 09:21

We've got 2 M's in our surname
