VBAC after two c-sections

Has anyone had a VBAC after two c-sections? The first one was an emergency one because of preeclampsia. The second one was elective because DS was beech and large for date. However, I would love VBAC on the third. Feel like I have really missed out on the whole birthing experience. Is it safe?

Kittywits has, keep bumping this up until she sees. In fact I think she's had three VBACs after two CS.

I meant 'sees this.'

Hi Linabolton, I had a vba2c last year (well actually it was a home birth!) It was all really straightforward and was an absolutely wonderful experience. Even if you're not planning a home birth the homebirth website has some really good information on vbacs in general and also vbac after more than 1 cesarean. I was quite lucky because I had a very supportive consultant and midwife, but to be honest, I was pretty determined and would have done it with or without their support!

VBA2C is actually much safer than many people realise. There isn't a consensus about what the rate of uterine rupture is - many people say 1-2% but there is a growing body of evidence that the rate is more or less the same as after 1 cesarean (ie about 0.5%) which increases if labour is induced or augmented.

I'd also recommend the yahoo vbachbac group for information and support from other people who've been through it.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Hi there!! Belgo sent this link over to another thread!. yes I had 2 sections, one em, one elective then I had three vbacs, 2 in hospital and the last one at home last Dec. I am expecting another in March for my sins and hope to have another home birth.

If you have any questions, do fire away!

Hi kittythescarygoblin,I hope you don't mind me asking you a question.I have got a midwife app on tues and I really want a homebirth after one c/s.I was just wondering if you had any midwives, consultants, doctors that put up a fight and do I just stick to my guns if I do face opposition?

rainbowgirl · 19/11/2006 18:24

kitty i just saw there's a question for you about VBAC on the pregnancy threads, someone wanting to know about homebirth? i would post the link but i can never do it successfully

rainbowgirl · 19/11/2006 18:25

ooops! still that bumped the thread so hope kitty finds it!

Klambert30 · 19/11/2006 19:22

Hi klambert I was kitty the scary for halloween!
You know, depending on who you see you can face fierce opposition or pretty good support. The first consultant I saw was a complete a**se and really tried to put the frighteners on me. My lovely doula arranged appointments with senior midwives and another consultant at the hospital and they were much more supportive.
If you really want to give it a go and you feel that you have all the info you need and I strongly suggest that you use as many different sources as you can to gather this, then you stick to your guns.

I had 2 vbacs at hospital before my homebirth as I didn't want to be at home having never had a successful vbac before. I'm not sure why the second at hospital, I think it was to do with the idea of having a rest before facing all the other children.

I will be honest with you, some people will use nasty scare tactics on you.It helps to know your rights, the Aims website is excellent for this.

Read up as much as you can before your appointments,( I know there are lots of excellent sites on vbacs but i don't have the links sorry.), that way you will have something to counter the horror statistics they might throw at you and you won't feel overwhelmed. I'm giving you the worst case senario here, they might be very supportive.

Good luck and I really hope you get the birth you want. If you want to ask anything else please don't hestitate
