Is 2.9cm far enough?

I've just had an extra scan at 34 weeks to see if my placenta has moved out of the way of the birth canal, after watching the sonographer struggle with an external ultra sound and then struggle with an internal ultrasound to actually site my placenta, she then asked a college to look at a picture she had taken and they decided to let me go naturally although the messaurment is only 2.9cm from the birth canal to placenta...

To me that sounds like very little room for error and I don't want to end up with an emcs and a stressful time!!!??

Do I request another scan ?

Maybe ask for another scan in a few weeks time when you're closer to delivery. Surely they wouldn't suggest a natural delivery if there was any risk of there being a problem? As I understand it, it would be a very serious problem if the placenta was in the way, which I'm sure you know. Or speak to a midwife?

Yes. The stats for successful vaginal birth with placentas which are more than 200mm from the cervix are very good. So 2cm is usually the cut off as the chances of a successful vaginal birth are low at less than 2cm.

No point in another scan. The placenta won't have got nearere the cervix, only even further away as the uterus stretches.
