Me buying Stilton from the local cheese shop, with my two dc and stupid dp who asked if I should be eating it. Then the assistant piped up " quote above"

Check the stupid fucking NHS website before ever speaking to me again you twats

Rant over, I walked out with the kids. There are plenty of other cheese shops in york..... Left dp to buy cheese from stupid cow

That would have made me cross. I would have said "good because I don't think I feel comfortable shopping here" before flouncing out.

pinkmagic1 · 19/12/2014 16:47

That's ridiculous, it was cheese not crack for gods sake. I would have been furious.

UmizoomiThis · 19/12/2014 16:48

"Oh really? And is that your professional opinion" is a good standard phrase for unsolicited advice.

When they reply and stammer that well no that's their personal opinion.... Just stare at them. Hard.

OHolyShite · 19/12/2014 16:50

Ridiculous. I wouldn't darken their door again.

Your DP is a tit for questioning you as well.

prettywhiteguitar · 19/12/2014 16:54

Sat here fuming ignoring said dp

Don't worry this is York, home of deli and cheese shops.

God I was so mad I nearly tweeted them the nhs guidelines, don't want to look like a mental, hormonal preggo though. Best to retain dignity and just shop somewhere else

Bloody hell, the extent to which pregnant women are considered public property by jobsworth do-gooders never ceases to amaze me!

The Cheese Police is a new one on me, though. I would tweet them!

RedTinsel · 19/12/2014 17:02

But even if it caused your legs to fall off, wtf has it got to do with them?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 19/12/2014 17:04

Which shop was it (so I can avoid them)? Please don't say the Hairy Fig.

OnTheThursdayOfChristmas · 19/12/2014 17:06

One of my saturday girls onece wanted to ask a pregnant customer if she knew that we did decaf tea as well as the normal tea the customer had ordered!

She was trying to be well meaning, but luckily I stopped her before she got to the pregnant woman!

DanyStormborn · 19/12/2014 17:20

This annoys me so much, first they need to get their facts right then they need to remember to butt out even if it is food with a slight risk, none of their business.

prettywhiteguitar · 19/12/2014 17:25

Love cheese on Gillygate

Annoying cause it's my closest, defo going to be the hairy fig in future.

Grrrrrrrr

My friends like to tease me offering decaf, I let them off with a casual feck orrrf. And they are joking.

The manager also piped up that French women don't avoid the kinds of cheese we do and it's up to me but the assistant was the one serving first, I just did a very theatrical sigh at dp and then she slunk off to serve someone else.

Go on - tweet them the guidelines. And also tell them to mind their own....

How utterly ridiculous :( :(

prettywhiteguitar · 19/12/2014 17:26

Honestly do people still not know about pregnancy rage ???? I could still be raging about this next year !!!!

Angry You did well to stay calm. I'd have probably turned into shouty cross mode and then spoiled it all by bursting into tears

GlitzAndGigglesx · 19/12/2014 17:37

When I was heavily pregnant with my first I was buying a bottle of wine and flowers for a relative and the cashier asked if I should be drinking that. I said yes and paid to her huge disapproval. Not that it's any of their business!

Nyancat · 19/12/2014 17:37

I once had a waitress query whether she should serve me a cheese toastie when pregnant because it had soft cheese ie melted cheddar. she got a hard stare!

LaceyLee · 19/12/2014 17:40

Ugh what an utter twat. I would make a complaint to owner and never go back! I've been buying the odd bottle of wine or beer for dh/ guests and never has this. But for cheese! Which is fine! Clearly an idiot :-)

oswellkettleblack · 19/12/2014 17:40

They should be tweeted the guidelines. I would expect an apology, too.

prettywhiteguitar · 19/12/2014 17:43

Oh I have been in tears today already ! This is just making me angry

These stories are ridiculous ! Thing is normally I would politely correct them same as if they had got any other kind of fact wrong but HORMONES get in the way

JulesJules · 19/12/2014 17:50

FFS.

I think you should complain to the shop. Even if she had been right it is not up to her to tell you what you should or shouldn't be eating.

JulesJules · 19/12/2014 17:56

I've just found them on twitter, apparently their cafe is closed for a couple of days as the cheese elves are just too busy serving the lovely people of York Christmas cheeses!
and handing out incorrect medical advice

'Cheese police' Xmas Grin

I've been lectured on my food choices by a childless friend who, quite frankly, got told to stick it. Talk to me again when you know what cravings are like!

Name and shame on Twitter, deffo.

queenofthepirates · 19/12/2014 17:59

and relax and let it go... she meant well.....

Blu · 19/12/2014 18:02

The guidelines are neither her nor there. A shop assistant has no more right to decide what a pg woman should buy whether she is buying organic spinach or a case of Jagermeister and Red Bull.

Sanctimonious public ownership of pg women gives me the Big Rage.

prettywhiteguitar · 19/12/2014 18:20

Ooh I know "cheese elves" make me want to kick something
