I am 32 weeks pregnant with my first and was diagnosed with OC last week. I am going to have bloods, scans and monitoring done at least once a week, and have been told to expect early induction around 37 weeks.
I am feeling a bit overwhelmed and worrying about the risks of the condition to baby, and was just wondering if there was anyone out there who had suffered with OC who had any advice, experience to offer? TIA

Apparently I should get an induction date on Tues - eek! Exciting to know roughly when bump will arrive, but a bit scary too!

I've just been to this week's consultant appointment I'm having an increase in medication for itching. They are admitting me on Monday for steroids to help my baby's lungs get ready for early delivery. I will need to stay in until Tuesday as they'll have to monitor sugars while they do it because of GD. If necessary they will induce me end of next week (when I'm 36 weeks) depending on steroids sugars itching blood pressure etc (now my blood pressure is going high too!) Otherwise they will still try and hold out until 37 weeks. There is an end in sight for my itching!

I had OC and was swept at 37 weeks, told I would be monitored in labour on consultant led unit not midwifery unit etc. In the event I was admitted to prenatal ward at 37+2 after water broke but contractions didn't follow. When my labour started no-one believed me, they refused to allow me to go to labour ward as it was 'full', then said they would have to examine me before I could go. I said if you examine me I will deliver very quickly after (pattern in previous labours) and they insisted. I was asking about monitoring and antibiotics which had been recommended during labour for a separate problem. Anyway they insisted on examining me and told me I was only 3 cm and not in established labour but they would chat to the consultant and get him to talk to me if I was so worried, 'when he had a chance'. Well, I never met him because I had DD on the prenatal ward 18 minutes after that examination, no monitor, no antibiotics.
The only good thing about the whole experience was that DD was fine, if very bruised from the swift delivery, and no lasting effects of the OC in either of us.

soory, that was all a bit off topic...but it felt cathartic writing it down! Best of luck with your LO. As far as I was told, as long as it is diagnosed and monitored, there is no increased risk to baby.
