What do I want to eat?

7+4 with HG. I don't want to eat but I know I need to, even if it won't stay down for long. I just cannot face anything. It's just so infuriating and my poor DH keeps suggesting things and I just cannot face them and usually I would Hoover them up!

Arrggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!

I'm 7+6 and although I haven't actually been sick as yet, I am nauseous and gassy all day every day. I usually eat really healthily and don't eat loads of carbs or junk food at all but I have found that the following things have saved me over the last few weeks!

1 - ready salted pop chips. Salty and no grease. Even when I feel really bad I can chow some of these down and often can eat a whole bag when I get started - 350 calories worth of carby energy!
2 - baked potato
3 - chips - only if salty and not greasy
4 - mushy peas
5 - toast
6 - when I am feeling less sick, mango, grapes, raspberries, blueberries etc but only if they have been in the fridge and are really cold
7 - ginger beer.

Not long to go until we all start glowing and feeling fabulous, right?!! ;-)

You poor thing. I had HG in 2 pregnancies and reading this brought the horror back. I was drawn to 1980s food like dairylea cheese triangles, potato waffles and stuff like that - but I'd only be able to eat it once before throwing up, and then couldn't even think about it again.

Nesquik chocolate milkshake. Or Frijj ones, but those had to be thinned down with milk.

Fizzy water, quite cold. Lucozade sometimes, ice lollies.

I ended up on a drip many times, so probably not the right person to make suggestions as there was literally nothing I could eat most of the time, but I can sympathise. Keeping hydrated is more important than eating when you've got HG.

I've just made it through to the other side so I understand exactly how you're feeling.

The only things I could tolerate were;
Dairylea and cucumber sandwiches
Supernoodles
Tinned Peaches
Rice Krispies
Haribo Tangtastics
and salt and vinegar crisps

Nothing even remotely healthy, but I thought I could make up for that over the next 30 weeks.

I really feel for you, and hope you find something which takes your fancy soon.

Mini Cheddars have kept me from fainting this time around. Last time it was Quavers. Clearly my children love cheese and carbs...

When I found out I was pregnant I immediately put together a jar of trail mix for easy snacking - pretzels, nuts, M&Ms, etc. Immediately went off pretzels and nuts. The M&Ms were good though ;)

I'm 8 weeks and felt nauseous all day every day from day 1! (but I have avoided being sick) my recent favourites are Jacobs crackers with cheese triangles spread on, cheddars, crisps and chips. I started this pregnancy wanting to be super healthy...so far its my worst diet in years!

hazelnutlatte · 24/11/2014 19:14

I'm currently living off tuc crackers and toast! The only meal I've managed to actually enjoy in the last month was fish and chips (from the chip shop) with loads of salt and vinegar. Everything else just tastes wrong at the moment.
Have a few things for you that I definatley would NOT recommend - avoid smoothies, especially the red / purple coloured ones, they are really not nice on the way back up! Also curry or anything spicy. In my last pregnancy I was throwing up every day, you have my sympathies op. This time not so bad but I still can only handle bland and salty foods.

Rebecca1608 · 26/11/2014 09:48

All I'm eating at the moment is ready salted crisps, quavers, cheese onion and tomato sandwich. Drinking strong tea or orange juice. All very bland. Proper dinners are a no no as I feel sickly if I have too much to eat. I'm struggling with the extra calories for my twins and although I put 7lbs on (I'm 9wks pg) I've lost 5 now. I'm at a healthy weight but don't want to keep losing.

Hi.

I've been suffering with hg since 5 weeks - I am now 13.

It is easing a little on some days but I find if I do too much (literally a few bits of housework) I'm almost back to square one. I've been hospitalised once with a drip and meds and have lost a stone since getting pregnant of which I have finally gained back a whole 3lbs despite now having quite a bump!

Some things that have got me by - pink lady apples (cold and slice), salted crisps, popcorn, nuts, dairlea Dunkers, jacket potatoes, oven chips, biscuits, dried fruit, jelly.

Could kill people who I say I have hyperemesis to and they say 'have you tried a ginger biscuit'!!!

Yes that will solve everything!!! Haha WinkWinkWink

KeeperOfTheZoo · 26/11/2014 12:37

Popcorn was my surprising lifesaver! I like both salty and sweet and couldn't decide so was chuffed when I found that Sainsbury's do packs of salty AND sweet (yes, in the same pack - genius when making a decision like that is more exhausting than running a marathon!)

bubalou · 26/11/2014 12:57

Keeper - i've been addicted to salt and vinegar popcorn! Yum
