At the EPAU, I get that you're seen by a sonographer if you're getting a scan. But the nurses that speak to you, are they 'midwives' if they deal with pregnancies that early on (pre-12wks)? Or are they another type of nurse?

TIA

They will be midwives. Midwives don't just deal with later pregnancy and delivery, they are trained to deal with early pregnancy as well.

As I have been a regular at my EPAU over the last year I can concur, they are indeed midwives usually ones that specialise in early pregnancy.

Don't think it was midwives in my experience at two local hospitals, doctors of difference levels and nurses / assistant nurses - the only midwife i saw was accompanying someone straight up from a 20 week scan. Perhaps it's different in different areas.

Must be different in different hospitals, at mine only nurses work in the early pregnancy unit and midwives see women post-12 weeks.
