feel like a knob! forgot to take my notes with me to a consultant appointment. They refused to see me. Burst into tears on the receptionist and had a complete meltdown.

Please reassure me this is just the hormones and I'm not turning into a mess!

It probably is MrsCK Thanks Hormones and tiredness. Have calming Brew and Cake

As an aside, I'm really surprised that our notes are only paper based. You'd have thought, given the rather limited amount of people accessing notes (compared to normal everyday medical care) that it'd be easier to share information digitally.

I did think that in my worked up state. What happens when they go permanently missing like if you were robbed, house caught fire or flooded? extreme and unlikely I know but surely there must be an easier way?!

Bilbo the govt/NHS do want to put everyone's records on line, but there is a massive movement against this.

I think it's a great idea though. I think it's only sensible that, if you're taken ill in Cardiff, and your GP is in Scarborough, that a Cardiff GP or hospital can access your notes to see what medication your on, what your medical history is etc.

Your normal hospital do have to keep their own written records of your notes too, so if notes were completely lost they could replace the information in them.

The reason for your copy of the handheld notes is so that you can present anywhere and have your medical information with you. The hospital can obtain records from your hospital but it takes too long.

The government did try to make all patients notes accessible in any hospital, to save lives. Unfortunately some stupid, idiotic, scaremongering dickheads, kicked up such a fuss about it the process was stopped - theres a lot of lost lives on their heads.

At my booking in appointment a few weeks ago, I was told that I wouldn't have any hand held notes as everything is on computer. This seems really strange to me, what happens if there's a massive computer meltdown when I give birth (ok so this probably isn't going to happen and I imagine hospitals have back up generators) but I would prefer to have something 'physical' to take with me to appointments.

I also like to check what they've written is true! I think it's a bit off not to see you at all though - mine do also have a hospital copy with the graphs etc in but surely it would be possible to see you, ask you about Hx & just check everything's ok...even to put your mind at rest before another appointment.

Hmm I am a tad miffed thinking about it. I'm 27 weeks and only had 2 scans but I'm high risk due to bmi and previous health condition....I assumed maybe wrongly I'd be seen and scanned a bit more. oh well!
