What are symptoms of reabsorbtion?

I am - or was - 7 weeks pregnant but I have a terrible feeling that I am no longer pregnant. My mother reabsorbed two foetuses and she described her symptoms as her feeling terribly sick the day it happened, and when I looked online it said that this is usually accompanied by brown blood (a small amout). This is what happened to me.

I would really appreciate if anyone who has gone through this could describe their symptoms to me.

For about a week and a half I felt ill. I put it down to morning sickness kicking in, as it started at my 6th week and I was put off my food. I did not throw up once, nor did I feel that I needed to. There were no particular foods I was sickened by, but from day to day what foods I thought I could stomach changed. I was immensely tired, sleeping all night and over half of the day time (luckily I was off work anyway). I had sore back and shoulder area too.

I thought to myself that the extra symptoms were down to perhaps having the flu at the same time, and I was sniffly too. Perhaps, if I did lose the baby, it caught an infection because of my flu?

Anyway, about two days ago I felt worse than ever, and that night I had a small amount of brown bloody discharge.

The next morning, like magic, I felt completely better.

Now I could sweat I feel different. No symptoms at all. Before my 'ill' period, I had at least noticed sore breasts and stomach cramps - nothing now.

Please describe your symptoms so that I can compare. Also, how long should I wait before taking a pregnancy test to confirm that nothing is there.

This was my first pregancy and I'm feeling a bit numb.

I've never gone through a miscarriage, but just wanted to reassure you that my pregnancy symptoms completely disappeared many times throughout the first trimester and I had some bloody discharge several times. I'm now 40+4.

The truth is, symptoms like nausea and tiredness can really vary from woman to woman. My mum had HG throughout all 3 of her pregnancies, I had 3 days of nausea with mine. So just because your mum had something doesn't mean you are at more risk.

The most reliable test is to POAS again or maybe see your GP for a blood test. They will do 2 to ensure the levels of hormone are rising over time. Xxx

I would ask your GP for a referral to your local EPU, if you have had bleeding they will normally see you. They should be able to do an early scan at 7 weeks and tell you what they can see.

POAS won't give you an accurate answer for a few weeks at least as the hormones can stay in your system for a while. I am sorry you are so worried about this, I hope your GP can help.

I was dubious whether I should be asking my GP for help when I had on/off bleeding at 6 weeks. They couldn't have been nicer and I was seen at the EPU the next day where they did an internal scan and told me they could see a heartbeat and all was well.
