hello! I'm 27 weeks pregnant and today after a bit of a hard poo I had a bit of soreness and some very faint bleeding. I'm pretty sure it's piles and I am upping my fibre intake and drinking more water but is there anything else I can do? Also should I bother going to the doctor or midwife or will it heal on its own? I've never had piles and i wasn't even really sure what it was till about a week ago!

Midwife or doctor can give some cream to help them go, over here it is ultrproct not sure in the uk

I could have written this post last week. I recommend prune juice (even though it's very brown and not at all appetising). Any creams have to be prescribed- pharmacist said she couldn't sell me anything as licensing is suspended for pregnant women. It's got better since the prune juice but I'd also like to know if a cream is needed???

I upped the fluid intake and fibre. Bought cream from Boots, its not over the counter it is just out on the shelf and I wasn't challenged. My life has since become far more comfortable, and the cream stays with me at all times!

33 weeks here and piles are the latest indignity I'm suffering from also Sad I'm also one of those unfortunate people who seem to be quite prone to them so it isn't the first time. I phoned my GP who gave me a prescription for an ointment. It's a different one than I would normally get, I presume because I'm pregnant. If it's the first time you've had them your GP might want to see you before he prescribes you anything. Hope you get sorted, they are definitely not pleasant things! In the meantime, I would recommend lots of fruit and veg and a high fibre cereal to keep things soft and moving (if that's not tmi!)

thanks for the advice! its not too painful but I am a bit afraid to ''go'' - good training for that scary sounding post birth poo I guess!
