Breathlessness?

Am currently 25 weeks and keep getting ridiculously breathless. Not just when I'm doing stuff but even sitting around. Sometimes after eating but not always Hmm

It's slightly easier to breathe he. Laying down but it doesn't solve the prob. I did mention it to the dr at my last clinic appointment but she dismissed it as baby getting bigger (which I understand) but that was last week and it's getting much more frequent now. Do I just put up with it until I'm back in clinic (2weeks?) or do I need to see someone now?

I would call your doctor tomorrow, tell them it's urgent and get into see them as soon as you can. I've been suffering from breathlessness for the past month (probably longer) and I'm 26 weeks now. For me it was just a case of one respiratory virus after another and pregnancy induced asthma (had no idea that existed!) BUT it can be a sign of something more serious and so they take it very seriously. Apparently, I had no idea about this, it can be a symptom of a pulmonary embolism. When I first presented with it to my doctor he sent me straight to the hospital, although my breathlessness was pretty bad at that point, it had kept me in bed all of the previous day. Now, I don't want to worry you, the chances of you having a PE are very small but it's certainly worth going to the doctors. Check your lower legs for swelling and/or pain, if you have that and your breathlessness is really bad, I'd head up to A&E.

I had something similar from about the same time, but your best bet if you're worried (trust your instincts on this) is to phone the triage number at the hospital on the front of your notes and chat to a midwife. They'll be able to help you work out whether you need to see someone now or whether it can wait. They've always been really helpful on the couple of occasions I've rung them and it's been a real source of comfort to speak so someone who can give you the right advice. Good luck.

I had this too and got very panicked, which made it worse!

I went to the Dr and they did tests including an ECG (I felt my heart thumping when I got breathleas), but told me not to worry it was quite common. Everything came back fine and once my little bundle shifted down it was much better. I'm afraid I did have to wait till my 3rd trimester
for that, but at least it didn't panic me so much.
I would agree you should get it checked definitely, but don't panic.
Hope it all goes well for you! X

Anemia? Have you had a blood test recently? I had one at 28 weeks which picked up anemia, one of my symptoms was breathlessness. Do you get tired and light headed too?

I'm 25 weeks on Monday and have noticed I'm getting breathless and breathing heavier. This afternoon it has even been making me cough. Do you work in an office? I am thinking sitting down all day probably doesn't help.

Thanks guys will try and get a drs appontment tomorrow if not I'll ring the antenatal triage.

I'm reasonably sure it's "just" lack of space for lungs and baby but I'm a little weary of leaving it and it turns out there was a prob!! No swelling or anything and she listened to my chest etc last week so don't think it's a PE but will keep an eye
