I have been to the doctor this morning following a slight bleed since yesterday, it has stopped now but still getting niggling pains so the doc has booked for me to have an early scan in Thursday morning. She has said that she has been told it will be an internal scan due to my dates.

I have never had an internal scan before so i dont know what this in-tales so would really appreciate it if people could let me know their experiences to provide some much needed reassurance and advice.

I had an internal scan at 5-6 weeks, to confirm my dates.
It's a slim probe thing which they insert with lots and lots of lube, the insertion is ok just feels a bit odd. My doctor had to prod around my cervix quite a lot and do lots of wiggling presumably because I was early on and it was difficult to get an image, that was more uncomfy but if you're 8 weeks hopefully it'll be easier to see.
Good luck Flowers

Hi there, I have had a few internal scans. I had one at the beginning of this pregnancy, at just over 7 weeks. Like someone else described, it's like a thin wand, it's only slightly uncomfortable, but they do use lots of 'lube' Smile I also had some bleeding, which was why I had the early scan, and they found that I had a haematoma which was described to me as a blood blister. I was told they are normally harmless unless it is situated above the sac. Mine was at the side of the sac and thankfully the bleeding eventually stopped and the haematoma 'absorbed itself'. I know how it feels to worry so I wish you all the best Thanks
