Best decaf tea?

Very important question! Trying to avoid caffeine, have you found a decaf tea that tastes (mostly) like the real thing? So far I've tried the yorkshire kind which isn't great.

Sainsburys own or clipper decaf!

OldRoan · 27/10/2014 11:24

Marks and Spencer's own brand (I think the box is blue, but can't be sure).

lucidlady · 27/10/2014 11:27

Twinings do a lovely decaf but my current favourite is clipper's.

ElphabatTheScream · 27/10/2014 11:39

Oh. Yorkshire Tea decaf was always my favourite. In terms of instant coffee, you can't go past Carte Noire Decafeine. That stuff is fab.

kitkat321 · 27/10/2014 11:59

Tesco's own - tastes the exact same as their regular tea!

SeaSaltMill · 27/10/2014 12:00

I like PG tips! I hate the M&S one haha!

FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 27/10/2014 12:03

Lids is fantastic.

FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 27/10/2014 12:04

Or lidl even...

ZylaB · 27/10/2014 12:44

Twinings decaf English breakfast is lovely!

CursiveLetters · 27/10/2014 13:13

I like the sainsburys own but hate the lidl one! I think it's trial and error for your own personal taste.

IamOldGregg · 27/10/2014 14:17

Waitrose own decaf is really good I think - I love really strong tea though!

AndThisIsTrue · 27/10/2014 14:19

PG tips, I actually prefer it to the normal one now and still drink it (ds is 18months)

bakingmad83 · 27/10/2014 14:25

I like Aldi's decaf tea, but it's not that strong, so depends how you like your tea

smogsville · 27/10/2014 17:07

Yorkshire. Based on recommendations from some lovely ladies on here.

When preggo with DD1 I somehow missed the avoid caffeine advice and drank masses of normal tea for ages and she seems fine. Trying to be a bit less crap this time around!

blondie1001 · 27/10/2014 17:44

I second Aldi - surprisingly good! I tried PG Tips and Yorkshire too but like Aldi best!

andrea315 · 27/10/2014 17:46

Aldi is good just leave it in the cup or tea pot for a while Smile

ElphabatTheScream · 27/10/2014 17:54

Apparently caffeine can affect birth weight so I avoided it like the plague when pregnant with my PFB. He was 9lb 2oz.

Given my apparent skill at creating monsters, I allowed myself a couple of coffees per day in the second and third trimesters with DS2. He was 9lb 6.5oz.

Hmm
skyra13 · 27/10/2014 19:47

I like Morrisons own as it tastes the same as there red label tea, I don't like Aldi or Lidl one as its very herby PG tips one is also good.

HermioneWeasley · 27/10/2014 19:49

Sainsburys own label in the blue box

BikeRunSki · 27/10/2014 19:50

I just cut down to 3 cups of normal tea a day.

AnythingNotEverything · 27/10/2014 19:51

Elphabat my last baby just just shy of 10lb so I read the start of your post eagerly ... I may relax about caffeine after my 12 week scan ...

I like PG Tips decaf, but we like PG Tips tea so not much of a surprise. Twining a decaf Earl Grey is lovely too. Great for the patch I go off tea.

Pico2 · 27/10/2014 20:45

I like Twinnings every day decaf or Twinnings English breakfast decaf.

I was advised by a GP friend not to abstain from caffeine entirely as she did for one of two pregnancies and that baby was huge. I don't think she meant it entirely as medical advice.
