Hi there, just wondering if there are any similar experiences out there.
Im 30 weeks pregnant with our second child (dd born 40+2 at 8lb 12oz) Went for an additional scan the other day as my bmi is 39 and were told baby is tracking just under tenth centile. Doppler is fine and movement are normal so have been told to come back in two weeks to see where we are at. Just concerned really as neither husband nor I are small people and dd was a good size seems it has to be something up for lo to be so small. I was under the impression that subsequent babies twnd to be bigger. Consoling myself with thinking rhat estimated weight can be wildly inaccurate and with my raised bmi maybe they aren't getting the best images? I just have to sit it out for 2 weeks and see dont I? Any ideas or experiences much appreciated!

Honestly wouldn't worry, I've never once heard of any weight estimate being accurate.

I was told DD was off the charts throughout my whole pregnancy, she was going to be huge apparently... She was 7lb 14oz Hmm

Don't forget what a centile is- a percentage! 10 in every hundred will be below 10th.

And these measurements are usually wildly inaccurate. If everything else looks fine, more than likely all is well.

Thanks both of you for the reassurance, I need to hear these things from someone who isn't the rational voice in my head, the one that keeps getting talked over with ideas of what to google next Confused and yep I get that some babies are smaller than others and that ten out of a hundred will fall into the tenth centile. It's just that as both my husband and I are tall and big built and our first was on the 60th centile, to hear this one could be tiny was kind of the last thing we expected. Again to be rational if they were worried they wouldn't be saying go away and come back in two weeks either, would they?

6 days before I had dd they told me she was around 7lbs 6oz, she came out 5lbs 4oz at 36+5weeks. She's still tiny now at 11 months weighs 17lbs. But is perfect. Grin

My 11lb+ baby was 2 weeks late and weight a whopping 6lbs 13 needing premature clothes that were still to big!

Ignore it! Small babies are lovely if that's the case

Big people don't necessarily make big babies and small people don't necessarily make small babies. One of our friends is about 5', her dh might be 5'5". Their DD was born at the same time as DD and was over 10lb. My DD was 7lb 5oz and is now way bigger than their DD.
